Does anyone know the name of this novel (or the author) being described by these woefully inadequate clues?
One of the main antagonists has the nickname "Chemo." He has a disfigured face because his dermatologist had a stroke while performing a procedure on Chemo (and valiantly tried to continue). Later in the novel, I believe Chemo gets his lower arm bitten off by a barracuda. Rather than a regular prosthesis, he opts for a small weed eater. He then proceeds to thrash people's plants.
3 AnswersBooks & Authors2 years agoWill methanol cause a false positive in an ETG urine analysis?
I use a lot of methanol as a solvent at my home studio. There are times when I get light headed and have to quit for a while due to breathing the vapor. My pain specialist likes to do a monthly UA to keep his patients on the up and up and the UA he uses includes an ethyl glucuronide test for ethanol consumption. I don't drink anyway, but he discourages alcohol consumption for his patients on opioid therapy as I am. Need I be concerned?
4 AnswersMedicine4 years agoCan anyone tell me the name of this alien movie I am describing?
The aliens have a hive ship they leave in orbit and send smaller (round) transport ships to the surface. They want the Earth but they are willing to relocate humanity to another world, so they say. So, many people start boarding their transports and go to the hive ship where, it turns out, they are drained of their blood. The aliens then expel the bodies into space before the transport ships return to earth for another load. In the movie, the American president is a woman. She has a son who has some type of disease. The aliens try to win her confidence by curing the boy. In the end, the president infects the hive queen with a virus and humanity is saved. This is a recent movie, perhaps as late as 2017.
1 AnswerMovies4 years agoI need a new desktop machine. Does anyone have any opinions?
I am tired of this 10 year old dinosaur. It wasn't a strong machine when new. I am thinking about having a new machine put together. AMD has some new parts that appear quite capable at a fraction of the cost of an Intel part. I am not a gamer. I need advice.
7 AnswersDesktops4 years agoCan Foxglove be grown indoors (climate controlled environment)?
I want to grow some foxglove (Digitalis purpurea or lanata). However, I live in Houston and foxglove simply will not tolerate the heat of our summers. Does anyone have any experience growing foxglove indoors? I already grow Colchicum autumnale and Aconitum napellus indoors. Would caring for foxglove be about the same?
2 AnswersGarden & Landscape4 years agoI need a new daily driver (car). What type should I purchase?
I want a car with a nice smooth boulevard ride. Most of the recent models I have driven have a harsh ride (Nissan Altima and Chevy Malibu). Who makes a comfortable smooth riding car?
8 AnswersBuying & Selling4 years agoWould killing all the lawyers make the world a better place?
It is generally accepted that Shakespeare was making a "lawyer joke" when Dick the butcher said, "The first thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers." (Henry Vl) But, lawyers seem to cause a lot of grief and misery. So it crossed my mind that if we got rid of the lawyers, we could start over.
3 AnswersGovernment4 years agoHow well does the video capability of a Hasselblad H6D-100C compare to a good dedicated video camera?
I inherited the Hasselblad a few months back and I finally learned how to use it. It is a bit bulky but it takes absolutely beautiful photographs. Now I would like to be able to take videos. The Hasselblad can do this in ultra HD. Is the video capability of the Hasselblad as good as it's still photo capability? Or, should I consider buying a dedicated video camera?
2 AnswersPhotography4 years agoSenator Elizabeth Warren was cut off and told to sit down during the debate over the confirmation of Jeff Sessions. Any thoughts?
Senator Warren broke senate rules by impugning on the character of Senator Sessions. In response, she was sanctioned and told she could not speak further. Yet, Elizabeth Warren acts as if she is the injured party.
6 AnswersLaw & Ethics4 years agoMy cat regurgitates his food often. Are there any veterinarians here who might be able to shed some light the problem?
I have twelve year old neutered male Siamese. He is in good health other than the mentioned problem. He is also an inside cat; he never goes outside.
At first, I thought he was simply gorging because I kept his bowl full. So, I started giving very small portions and after 10 minutes or so, I would put more food in his bowl. But, he continues to throw up his meal one time out of four. Thoughts?
8 AnswersCats4 years agoCan anyone give me the name of this science fiction movie?
It was done probably in the nineties or early 2000s. In the movie, a Mars Viking lander returns to Earth carrying an alien "embryo." The embryo quickly grows up. They kill it (I think) but the alien leaves behind another embryo which develops. Anyway, the alien looks sort of like a centaur and it can retract it's head into it's body. At the end of the movie we find out that they weren't invading our world but came to ask us not to invade theirs.
2 AnswersMovies4 years agoDespite her young age, does JonBenet Ramsey look like a bimbo?
I think her parents were taking advantage of her by pushing her into beauty contests and other things best left to more mature individuals.

Assuming that Trump and Pence don't want to run and assuming that Michelle Obama changes her mind.
8 AnswersPolitics4 years agoWhy isn't the non-narcotic opiate, noscapine being employed as an antineoplastic?
I've read about noscapine's anti tumor properties from several legitimate sources. It also can be taken orally and is relatively nontoxic (compare to doxorubicin). Someone offered the explanation that because noscapine can not be patented, big pharma doesn't care to pursue it.
1 AnswerAlternative Medicine4 years agoWhat is federal lifetime probation?
I read that a man who was trying to attack the capitol building was sentenced to 30 years PLUS lifetime probation. If he serves his entire 30 years in the slammer and gets out and then violates the probation, what happens? He's served the entire sentence.
