  • Are there some people who just can't meditate?

Every time I have ever tried meditation, I feel bad headaches, neck/shoulder tension, or pain in other places (knees especially.) No matter what position I use--sitting, lying down, reclining--it's the same. Sometimes, I start falling asleep so when the session is over, I end up groggy, sleepy and kind of grumpy because I just got woken up. This all happens no matter if it's a guided meditation or an audio meditation I do on my own. No matter what I do, I can't still and centre myself at all. I can't get into any meditative step because I can't help hurting and falling asleep.

Should I just give up on meditation ?

  • "Find your passion" UGH! is anyone else sick of this terrible "advice"?

Am I the only one sick of this phrase and others like it? Not everyone can make a living making cupcakes or handbags! What's so terrible about wanting a normal job where you can pay bills? It's called "work" for a reason, isn't it?

  • Assistance with Ubuntu?

I am running Ubuntu 7.10 kernel 2.6.22-14 generic on my Acer laptop. However, when I log in as normal, I get a blank screen: no desktop, no icons, nothing. Whenever I tried to run it in Recovery mode I got a command prompt with this: "root@[my user name]:~# " and I can't think of what I'm supposed to enter as a command. I ran memtest, but after 2 hours and no errors, I gave up on it. I also was dumb enough to unplug it from the web during a big update. Any help please?

  • NHL Team standings During Previous seasons?

Does anyone know where you can find standings DURING previous seasons? Not just at the end of the season, but from, say, this time last year? All of the other places I look (Yahoo, NHL website, etc) only have the standings from the very end of the season. Thanks!

  • Who would win--William Wallace and Co.(Braveheart) or the Spartans from 300?

Imagine, if you will, an epic battle between the Scots (led by William Wallace [Mel Gibson]) and the Spartans (led by King Leonidas [Gerard Butler]) Who do you think would win this battle and why?

Personally, my money is on the Scots, (mainly because of better technology) but I think that the Spartans would look better while fighting.

  • Help for shin pain from walking home?

I am a university student and I live off-campus on a large hill. My shins have been hurting something terrible when ever I walk and if I try to turn my toes towards my legs. I've been perusing the internet and Yahoo answers for help and what I see is mostly to stop walking. Since walking is how I get anywhere, that's not really an option. I've also heard ice is good. Is there any other advice?

  • Do you know these two Irish towns?

Inmerstok and Innstok are the towns. They are listed on my great-grandfather's death certificate as the birthplaces of his parents. My mom and I have been combing the web and can't find a map or anything of them in any page. The certificate is done in kind of messy cursive, so maybe I'm reading it wrong/they are spelled wrong? I've tried other variations (Inmerstok, for example) and still nothing. Any help would be nice to have!

  • I have itching on my shoulders and arms but no rash--what could it be?

I have had itching on just the back of my shoulders and lower forearms with no visible rash for about a week. The skin doesn't look excessively dry and I haven't done anything different (no new laundry detergents, no new foods, etc.) Does anybody know where I could figure out what’s wrong with me and what I can do? I have had no prior diagnosis of eczema or any other skin condition in the past.

  • How can I clean my tile floor?

I live where we have lots of snow. As a result I end up with this white residue (road salt type stuff?) on my floor that comes from the melted snow. What is on my floor and how do I get it off without hurting the floor?

  • Psycho test?

A woman, while at the funeral of her own mother, met a man she didn't know. She thought this guy was amazing,so much her dream guy, that she believed him to be

just that! She fell in love with him right there, but never asked for his number and couldn't find him. A few days later she killed her sister.

Question: What is her motive in killing her sister?

(Give this some thought before you answer).

Answer: She was hoping that the guy would appear at the funeral again. If you answered this correctly, you think like a psychopath. This was a test by a famous American Psychologist used to test if one has the same mentality as a killer.

Many arrested serial killers took part in the test and answered the question correctly. If you didn't answer the question correctly, good for you.

  • What can I expect from a CT scan?

I'm having my first CT scan in a few weeks. They told me to not eat anything for 4 hours before it, but besides that they didn't tell me anything else about it. What happens to me in a CT scan and should I do anything else for it?

And do I get to keep the pictures? ;)

  • Info on Eastern Europe?

Hey, I'm just wondering what the best places would be to get information on Eastern European countries--culture, climate, etc. I'm writing a story wioth a prominant character from somewhere there. Where is a good place to start for this (websites, books, etc.) I would love to go but I'm too poor to afford it. :(

  • My pupils are dialated almost all of the time. Should I be worried for my health?

I mean, they're really dialated almost all of the time, even in bright light, except when the light is DIRECTLY aimed at my eye. Sometimes I can get headaches and eyeaches. ALSO: I don't do drugs or overdrink, so NO that's not why. Is this nothing to be worried about or is it a sign/bringer of health probelms?
