1 AnswerCountry9 years agoWho sings the cover of "Whiskey River" I hear so much in Austin?
I have been hearing a song called "Whiskey River" on 98.1 KVET in Austin, TX. I know the famous version was done by Willie Nelson, but this appears to be a new version and NOT by Willie. It sounds pretty close to the original, but kind of "modernized." Any help s greatly appreciated! I already tried calling the radio station...
1 AnswerCountry9 years agoWhat are some traditional Cajun country songs?
I know of Jolie Blon, Don't Mess With My Toot Toot, Diggy Liggy Lo, etc... However I am looking for some awesome Cajun tracks to put on my iPod... what are your suggestions... I like to stick to stuff like Doug Kershaw, The Balfa Brothers, etc...
3 AnswersCountry9 years agoIs it an invasion of privacy to read your spouses journal if it proves infidelity?
Not to long ago I had an unprecedented opportunity to dig into my spouses journal. For awhile I had thought something may have been going on, but I didn't just want to blow up if I didn't have proof. Well... I found proof. So this is sort of a two tier question... 1) Is it an invasion of privacy for me to read the information in the journal? 2) Should I even care if it is? It seems irrelevant.
17 AnswersMarriage & Divorce10 years agoHow to Stop Self Destructive Behavior?
I realize that Y! Answers is not a substitute for professional help... so answering with "go see a counselor" will do nothing but annoy me.
What I am wanting to know is how to stop my self destructive behavior. I am currently going through a rough patch in my marriage and rather than allow my frustrations and pain to cause me to explode onto someone else, I allow it to be directed at myself. I don't cut myself or put myself in danger of death... but I end up drinking too much, or literally punching myself in the head, hitting my head on the wall, yelling at myself, etc... I chew my nails, pull my hair out, scratch my head till I cause scabs and then don't allow them to heal... it's all a huge vicious cycle, but I don't know how to stop doing it, or rather, stop allowing it be my reaction to stress. It would seem that if this is a stress/anxiety based reaction, I should be able to replace the, presumably learned, behavior with something new and positive. I have suffered with depression in the past when I was a teen, and it wasn't based on any actual issues, it just "was." I know I need to see a professional, and I intend to, BUT I would also like to ask those that suffer with this as well, and what they have done to help themselves...because in the end all we have IS ourselves.
1 AnswerPsychology10 years agoWhat to do about (kind of) fake or lying Marine?
OK, Here is the deal. I know a man who was, in fact, a "Marine"...He pretty much went to boot camp, AIT, and then was "discharged." I have added up the years that he said he was in Vietnam and he would have been 15 or 16... He has all kinds of action packed stories of killing people and blowing things up, but other people I know that have those experiences do not talk about them in the way he does. He later went to Iraq with KBR as a heavy machinery operator and came home telling more stories of The Army asking him to go on "missions" with them since he was a former Marine(bear in mind he is nearly 60)...This is where I started calling BS... I mean sure he could have been in on the latter part of the Vietnam war, I guess, but his wife claims that he only spent 13 months in the Corps and I know enough about the military to know that boot camp is 13 weeks long and infantry school(what he claimed was his MOS) is 12 weeks... so that's nearly half a year in training...doesn't leave much time for (not so) secrete missions and blowing stuff up. what do yo think?
4 AnswersMilitary10 years agoPT Cruiser won't start...solenoid?
I have a 2003 PT Cruiser that will not start. When I attempt to start it and turn the key, it clicks once and does nothing. I have checked the battery terminals and they are not corroded and the connection coming from the battery appears secure at the solenoid. My initial thoughts are that the solenoid is either going out or has gone out. It did this to me yesterday and wouldn't start for three tries and then after a minute, it cranked up as normal and did so the rest of the night. Any advice that doesn't include a hefty mechanic bill would be appreciated.

Now, he freaks out at bedtime. he doesn't want to lay down, he doesn't want to have his sippy cup. Any parents have any advice?
4 AnswersToddler & Preschooler1 decade agoMexico border sealed?
Ok, before you read this question... Remember it's just that. It has not happened nor am I implying that it will happen anytime soon... So if don't give me a bunch of reasons on why it won't happen...just what it would mean.
If due to a national emergency, the border was sealed, guarded, etc... what do you believe that, that would have upon our politics, society, etc... With the intense fighting between drug cartels and Mexican military or other drug cartels and now a disease the WHO (not the band) called "a public health emergency or international concern" this could legitimately happen. It has just as great of a chance of not happening....but I'm not asking about that...
2 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoSister-in-law Major issues!!!?
My 24 year old sister in law is in a bit of a spot. She is in an abusive relationship, dropped out of school in the 9th grade, her sexually abusive father died because he drove drunk into a creek bed and burned to death, she has mental issues because of that and long term use of drugs(meth, coke, extacy, etc...), lives in a poor as crap household in the middle of nowhere that HARDLY qualifies for a house with, as of today, her ex boyfriend, bf's mom, and a 7 year old extremely autistic child ...well the boyfriend apparently hit her back in October and she told no one...so she calls me up because today he apparently told her "shut up before I slap your smart mouth.", her prior relationship was more abusive than this one, MIGHT I also mention that her father was the one to introduce her to doing meth...
In the past we tried her moving in and trying to find a job...DOES NOT WORK!!! trust me. She needs help... She needs somewhere where she can get the mental treatment she needs while also getting her GED and/or vocational training. I seem only able to find the rehab's and the vocational places like Gary job corp... I think for her it may need to be girls only at least for a bit...she messed up the last time living with us by having a ton of guy over all the time and who knows what happened...I know it did with at least one. So anyhow...if, as I hope, you are reading this with a perfect answer...PLEASE let me know!! I thank you in advance!
If it's needed this is in Central Texas...
3 AnswersFamily1 decade agoEmergency Management degree?
I want to go into emergency management. What degree do you think would help me with this. I would prefer not to get a Criminal Justice degree... only because I don't really care for it. If there is no other choice then so be it, BUT I can not find a degree specifically for emergency management.
thanks in advance
1 AnswerHigher Education (University +)1 decade ago7mm Mag good for Texas deer hunting?
Pretty simple question...
Do you think that using a 7mm Magnum with a Winchester mag round is the right one for Texas deer? I have been told it's good but I have also been told that it's overkill...your opinion?
10 AnswersHunting1 decade agostereotypes truly a precept to hate?
I understand that hate is a horrible, despicable, consuming thing. I do, however, see the existence of stereotypes within subcultures, races, etc... For instance white people tend to be a little more uptight than other races... I am giving that as an example since I am white.
So why when you express a belief or sentiment about the stereotype you are automatically then a racist or a bigot. I have known people of several races, religions, or cultures, and have found an ability to get along with them great. I also see the generic stereotypes to a degree within them, as I also see them within myself. So why is the acknowledgment of the existence of a stereotype racist?
1 AnswerOther - Cultures & Groups1 decade agoLE supervisors, how do you make your schedule's?
Odd question but I have been working on an alternate schedule for my department...
Right now we work five 8hr shifts a week for 40 hours. I have suggested a few alternate schedules, BUT the kicker is that the schedule has to fit in 40 hours for 6 people tuesday through monday. I am having a hard time figuring it out alone, and thought that the collective knowledge of alot of the ol' salts on here might help. I'll edit my question if you need more info. only serious answers please.
