Three weeks to surrender the company or face a hostile takeover. If you were running Yahoo, what would you do?
(I just posted this question, but it didn't come up-- so here it is again. If this ends up being a duplicate post, please forgive me... T.)
"Yahoo Inc. has three weeks to accept Microsoft Corp.'s $31 per share cash-and-stock offer or Microsoft will mount a proxy battle to win investor support for the takeover, Microsoft said on Saturday."

4 AnswersCorporations1 decade agoWhy can't I download .zip files from Yahoo! Mail?
Hi!
I'm having a problem with Yahoo! mail and zip files. When I download a .zip attachment, everything seems to go normal, but I find that only the zip file's folder comes through to my computer--not the contents of the zipped folder.
I get the e-mail, open/save the attachment, but when the download is complete, it tells me that 0 bytes have been saved (tranferred) to my computer. It's weird, the zip folder is there, just nothing in it... totally empty.
It's like somewhere during downloading, the contents inside the zip file are dumped.
I've tried different things... tried multiple zip files from different sources, opening the files directly from Yahoo!, saving the files on my hard drive, getting a new zip program... but nothing helps.
I even tried using another Yahoo! mailbox. It's the same... I can download the actual zip file, but the zip folder's contents are lost during the download.
Does anyone know why? And what I can do to fix this problem?
Thanks...

5 AnswersOther - Internet1 decade agoArrest Warrant vs. Bench Warrant?
Hi... I need your help.
I always thought an arrest warrant was something issued for commiting a crime... i.e. - you didn't pay your parking/speeding tickets and now you're being arrested for it.
I thought a bench warrant was something issued by the court for missing your court date... i.e. - you didn't pay your tickets, was issued a court date and you failed to appear for it, and now you're being arrested for that.
I was doing research and came upon an website talking about warrants. To me, they made it sound like the same thing.
Is it?
If not, can you explain to me the difference?
Thanks...

2 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoFleeing the Scene of a Crime Help...?
I need help...
Bob is at work. Jack breaks into Bob's house by shattering a window panal on the back door. While inside, the house catches on fire. Jack calls 911.
Jack tries to fight the fire until the fire department shows up. Jack is seen runnng away from the scene by firefighters.
Bob comes home to find his house partly burnt down. After hearing the details, he tells investigators that he wasn't home and that someone must have broken in. Investigators agree, then ask Bob if he might know someone that looks like such and such. Bob identifies Jack.
But then Bob tells the investigators that Jack is his bestfriend, and probably had good reason for breaking in, and the fire must have been an accident. After all, Jack called 911 and stayed to fight the fire. Bob doesn't want the police to charge Jack for breaking and entering.
What charges can or should be brought against Jack?
Thanks...

5 AnswersOther - Health1 decade agoMy dog won't put his... you know what... away?
I know this is a weird question, but this is the first dog I've ever had in my life, so I'm unfamiliar with the ways dogs act....
My dog (black lab/blue tick hound mix) has been very excited to be around me today. So much so, that his wee-wee is making a permanent appearance. Not just a little peek... I'm talking about a full appearance.
Like I said, this is my first dog and I've only had him a couple of months. He's still under a year old. But he's also fixed. So what's up with him showing his... um... urges?
What's also weird is that he seems to only be doing it around me. When he's with my husband, he's not as "excited".
Is there something wrong? Or is this natural? Can someone explain the what and why of his sudden new state of arousal-- if that's what it is? Or could he just be "airing it out"?
Thanks...

5 AnswersDogs1 decade agoWhat does it take to be arrested for DUI/DWI?
Does a police officer have to give you a field sobriety test and/or a blood alcohol test before he/she can arrest you for a DUI/DWI?
"The traditional "drunk driving" offense, consists of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. Evidence to support this crime generally comes from the officer's observations (erratic driving, slurred speech, unsteady gait, etc.), performance on field sobriety tests, and a legal (and generally rebuttable) presumption of intoxication from a blood alcohol test result over the legal limit."
Does a police officer have to "observe" all of these to deem you "under the influence"? Or is one or two of these "observations" enough for an arrest?
Example: You are pulled over because of your "erratic driving". You roll down your car window and the officer smells alcohol (and you are alone in the vehicle).
Is that enough "observation" for an arrest? Or must a sobriety test/BAC test be given? And what if a person refuses the test?

15 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoMiranda Warning/Rights and Custodial Interrogation?
I just read this...
"Police are only required to warn an individual whom they intend to subject to custodial interrogation at the police station or when detained. Arrests can occur without questioning and without the Miranda warning — although if the police do change their mind and decide to interrogate the suspect, the warning must be given then."
I'm confused... What exactly is "custodial interrogation"?
I mean, lets say your getting arrested for a suspected DUI or DWI because you refused to take the breathalyzer. Does that mean the police officer has to tell you your Miranda Rights before asking you questions like how much you've had to drink, where you've been, etc...?
Or is the "Miranda Rights" only read when you are being arrested as a suspect for murder, robbery, etc and will be questioned about it.
Thanks...

5 AnswersMythology & Folklore1 decade agoWhat is the fine in your state for littering the highways?
What fine would you have to pay in your state for throwing litter out your car window while on the highway? (or interstate, parkway, expressway, etc...)
Also... what other penalty might you incur besides a fine? (For example, in California, I hear a judge might force you to do eight hours of community service cleaning litter off the roads.)
*It would be a great help if you can list the type of offense it is...
i.e. -- Class 1 misdemeanor, punishable by up to 12 months in jail and/or a fine up to $2,500.

1 AnswerLaw & Ethics1 decade agoRabies? Soap? Just Thirsty? What's the foam around my doggy's mouth?
I let my dog outside to go poddy (fenced in backyard). I thought I'd leave him out for a while to enjoy the nice day, since it's usually cold and rainy. Well, I put out a milk bone treat on the patio, then went back inside. He came up on the patio and ate it.
While he was eating, his mouth was foaming. A lot.
So I thought he might just be thirsty (since he drinks a lot). Well, I put out a bowl of water. He won't drink.
So, now I'm worried. I don't know why his mouth is so foamy. Could he have eated something outside? I don't have any soap out there that I know of... maybe he tried to drink the pool water?
I hope it's not rabies. It shouldn't be... I think he's already had his rabies shot.
Should I take him to the vet as in to the vet emergency hopital today... or can I take him on Monday when I can get an appointment for his normal vet? Or should I not be worried. Is this normal?
Currently, my baby is laying down on the patio. I don't see any foam now.
Opinions?

I don't understand why this is such big news? I must have missed something...

Eight US attorneys are fired by the Justice Department. Why were they fired? And why is it such a big deal that they were? People get fired all the time. So why are there some calling for the Attorney Gerneral's resignation over it? What makes these eight attorneys so special that everyone is upset over their termination?
Can someone catch me up on what I missed?

6 AnswersCurrent Events1 decade agoCase Study... What would you do if...?
Ok... This is kind of like the woman who dialed 911 because she wanted to give a deputy (who had just left her house moments earlier) her phone number. For those who have no idea what I'm talking about, here is the link to the article:
http://www.soonews.ca/viewarticle.php?id=7593
Here is the story/question I need an answer to...
A woman is pulled over for speeding. She is released with a warning. The next day, while driving down the same road, she is pulled over for speeding again by the same officer. She informs the officer (a male) that she was speeding on purpose because she wanted him to pull her over so she could see him again and ask him out on a date.
1. Can (or should) the police officer charge the woman with reckless driving? If so, do you think the charge will hold up in a court of law?
2. What other citations/charges can the woman incur for her actions?
2. If you were the police officer, what course of action would you take?
Thanks...

6 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoCan those cameras in police cars be turned off?
It's for research and I'm too shy to go down to the local police station and ask.
:)
So... you know those camera's that law enforcement patrol cars have now? The ones that sit on the dash board and record the police officer when he approaches a vehicle?
Are those turned on/off by the police officer... or do they automatically start recording when the patrol car is turned on?
Can you explain to me how those cameras work?
Thanks...

3 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoWhat constitues reckless driving in regards to speeding? (in the USA)?
I hear that it's 20 miles over the speed limit... is that true?
Because I have also heard that you have to go double the speed limit to be hit with a reckless driving citation. Otherwise, you will only get a speeding ticket.
Or do the rules vary from state-to-state? Or is it really up to the officer giving the ticket?
Thanks for your help...

Q: Are humans the only animals that mate in the missionary position? If not... What other animals mate in this "face to face" fashion?

Or do you believe humans were always instinctually inclined to mate using the "missionary" position, never the "doggie" position?
