Every day, I am deleting a bunch of fake connection requests, some from generic names and some from a pile of random letters. What's going on? Yahoo get hacked again?

So the workers excavating the World Trade Center site found the remains of an 18th century ship, thirty feet underground at the site. My mind is spinning, wondering how it got there. Was it just dumped there as trash or was it being hidden? What might it contain?

I think this is some type of spool or reel from a textile mill, but searching those terms I can't find any mention of it online. Does anyone know the correct use, function, term for these?

Facebook chat is forever telling me that my friends went offline the second I try to talk to them, but it shows them that I went offline. We can't use it most times, because every message comes back with the "offline" alert, but then they are (or I am) right back online a second later, until someone tries to send a message.

My computer is clean, caches are cleaned, no spyware, no virus, constant internet feed. What causes this?

Seriously? Because they're not likely to have other identities or skip town or anything...

I have heard two theories so far, concerning the origin of "the whole nine yards."

One, originating during WWII, is supposed to have involved fighter pilots saying it took "the whole nine yards," or 27 feet of belted ammunition, to bring down an enemy plane.

The other, much older, involves the theory that a good dress of the era required "the whole nine yards" of material.

I wondered if anyone knew, had any resources to find out, or had any theories on this.

Since the North Koreans torpedoed the S. Korean ship, that leaves S. Korea with two options. Let them kill whoever they want with impunity, or go to war to stop them. It's my opinion the obama administration will leave them hanging. What do you think? All opinions welcomed.

I haven't had time to read the text of the revision yet, but according to the headlines it stipulates that the LE Officers must already have stopped or detained the suspect for some other matter, alleviating the question of "lawful contact" and the random stopping of civilians. If it turns out that has been resolved, I will be in support of the law. Will that do it for you?

Kids today have no motivation to learn. They know they will pass, regardless of whether they learn or not. Why try? The few kids who do have a desire to learn are more-often hampered by the bunch who don't, and the teachers are not trying anymore, probably because of that same 'not my child' crap. He's right, isn't he?

So 140 bottles of mother's milk made it to Haiti, only to have USAID say it can't be put to use. The newly-orphaned newborns found amid the rubble will get none, because WE say it's unsafe to use donated mother's milk to help them. At what point do the Haitians get a say in the matter?

O'Keefe has been arrested, I read today, for illegally tampering with a politician's phones. Now the news says the GOP is steering clear of him. Why? Wouldn't they rather he show the world what the libunists are really up to? Since you know they'd never comply with a subpoena to surrender their phone records and would never admit to what they do, how else could he have gotten enough to show the voters what their politicians are doing? Wouldn't we rather hear it than hear about it?

I've always wondered what that meant, and if that's the case, what's the translation of adios? Is it just a shorter version?
