What causes such a high percentage of people caught in lies to respond with anger?
I know it's a common thing, but does anyone know why? What causes it?

They are angry because you figured out they lied. They lied because they thought they would not be found out and have to be in a somewhat relaxed state to make their lie believable, so it is a big jump in emotion to then having to explain their lie.
A lot of people don't get angry, they just try to convince the other person they are wrong and it is not a lie. A lot of times people can't admit it to them self that they lied so don't believe they are caught.
Lying = Bad. Bad people = angry people.

Fear of being caught, knowing that they have been caught.
