A week ago my wife noticed she had a flea bite upon getting out of bed in the morning.

We live in the south and have three dogs, all are on permethrin.

We decided to go with diotamaceius earth due to the low or no side effects and dusted everything except the hardwood floor.

In bed the fleas were persistent so we dusted every sheet, blanket, and even directly on the mattress (we don t use a box spring) and let sit for several hours while at work.

We left the DE on the rug and washed the sheets and comforter, leaving the DE on the mattress covered by the special protectant fitted sheet we bought with the mattress when it was new.

My wife woke up with even more bites than ever, 6 to be exact, and now we re even more frustrated.

Should we keep applying the DE, move on and up to chemical sprays, or something else?

What Happens:

Call for heat

Evacuation fan comes on (not sure of the tech term for the evac fan)

Ignitor gets hot (had it replaced a year ago before I knew more about furnaces)

Single burner lights over ignitor

All burners light, ignitor turns off

Main blower fan comes on

All burners go out, both evac fan and main blower continue to run

Ignitor comes back on

Single burner, then all burners re-light like normal

Heat resumes being produced

Sometimes this happens only once until the t-stat is satisfied, other times it happens two or three times.

Ideas:

Considering getting a Cricket broadband modem to use in my house for my Wi-fi laptop.

My question is, is it basically the same "reception" as a wireless phone?

I ask because the 3G in and around my home isn't the greatest reception anyway, so would I be wasting my time and money?

Anyone have experience with broadband cards or hotspot modems through a phone service??

I was cooking some Indian style veggies for the first time and put way too much ground black pepper in it.

Any remedy?

If I want to use 4 watts power, would I use a 36 Ohm resistor?

Just moved into my condo and it came with a Kenmore fridge. Not sure of the age but I'd say within ten years.

The first issue is that when the compressor turns off it rattles pretty bad for a second or two.

The second issue is that about every other day I have a few ounces of water on one of the shelves in the fridge part.

There is a plastic piece on the "ceiling" of the fridge part that looks like it has cracked, possibly from ice expansion.

Any clues on these two issues?

Is the unit worth repairing or should I start saving now for a replacement?

Also, what are some basic guidelines for the costs associated with appliance repairs?

That is, service fee for showing up, parts, labor, etc?

I'm closing on a house (first time home buyer) in a few days and am aware that I should probably claim a different exemption rate on my W2 for this coming fiscal year.

I'm 35, single, and have zero dependants. I currently claim zero because I'm not the most fiscally responsible and would rather have a higher return than even a remote possibility of owing at the end of the fiscal year.

Should I claim 1 or 2 in lieu of the mortgage interest I'll now be able to claim? Or a different exemption status altogether?
