Is this a good deficit or not?
I've read that the bailout and stimulus funds were necessary to stave off a depression and were based on lessons from our "great depression" and Japan's "lost decade". If so, the expense of avoiding catastrophe could be worth it, if not we have jeopardized our economy. Please use data to back up your answer, I am not convinced either way.

Would it be Bush's chance to lead, or a repeat of Katrina?
21 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoIndependents: Who is the last Republican you voted for in a presidential election?
For me, it was Bush Sr. Wish his son would of read his book at least.
Rules are: you must have voted for both Democrat and Republicans for president in the past.
13 AnswersElections1 decade agoWhen will the US elect an agnostic/atheist president?
the atheist/agnostic percentage of the population is at 12-18% and growing. If you adhere to a religion, would you vote for an atheist/agnostic that was a competent leader?
13 AnswersElections1 decade agoIsn't what AIG did illegal? Shouldn't they get jail time, not a bonus?
- They broke the law when they created rosy looking, and obviously false assessments of company risk
- The credit/debt swaps they created to allow banks to get around rules regarding the amount of capital they needed on hand should be illegal
Can't we invalidate the bonus'? Or at least threaten them with Federal Prosecution (and follow through..)
Obama - I think you need to come down HARD on this public display of parasitic excess
3 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoWho would win MTV Celebrity Death Match : Hillory or Palin?
And what would their special powers be?
If you've seen the show on MtV you know it's a big joke done in claymation where they do caricatures of the combatants and give them special powers based on their most obvious characteristics.

If she only stayed with him for the power, methinks yes
21 AnswersElections1 decade agoAre the Clinton's going to lose the white house for the Dems TWICE?
Al gore blames Bill Clinton's "indiscretions" for losing the white house for him.
Hillary Clinton's "it's my turn", must be nominated at any cost "or nobody will" strategy is denigrating she and Barack.
McCain is posturing as a moderate, his numbers are rising, both Barack and Hillary's are declining.
And her campaign sounds very Rovian, win by innuendo, win by lying, win by character assasination, win by manipulating rules (Florida, Michigan), win by coup (super delagates).
McCain might actually look better to me than going back to the future with billary.
5 AnswersElections1 decade agoShould the writers guild be run by a garment industry union fat cat?
In September the guild elected a new president, Mr. Verrone, whose campaign promised to end guild infighting and adopt a more assertive stance on key issues. Mr. Verrone fired WGA west Executive Director John McLean and promoted veteran labor organizer Mr. Young to his post. Mr. Young said his tactics were inspired by his 1990s work representing garment industry laborers who disrupted retail clothing events.
One longtime guild observer said the tactics are more the style of Teamsters than modern entertainment guilds.

1 AnswerOther - Entertainment1 decade agoReligion and Google Sky - what's your take?
I just downloaded google sky, the scope of the universe is amazing. It seems pretty clear to me that religions on earth which assert that humans are unique in the universe, perhaps even it's primary purpose are primative vestigages of ancient mythology. If you practice a religion, and have perused google sky, I'd like to hear your reconcilliation of the vastness of creation with your religious beliefs.

9 AnswersEtiquette1 decade agoHas the bottom dropped out of the WOW gold market?
I don't buy gold, but I do get those annoying spam mails from "peons4hire" etc in-game. I've noticed they have been getting pretty desperate sounding lately and the prices have been crashing. I also noticed as I leveled my two mains to 70 that gold seemed pretty easy to accumulate with the expansion. Does this mean the collapse of gold farmers?????????

7 AnswersMythology & Folklore1 decade agoWhat ever happened to the ZPG (Zero Population Growth) movement?
From global warming, to the collapse of fisheries, to poverty and pandemics the elephant on the table nobody wants to talk about is the number of people on the planet. Global population is supposed to stabalize at something like 10 billion people (though I'm not sure why it would stop there). That's like double the people alive today.
Do you think population growth is an issue? If so, what do you recommend.
3 AnswersOther - Social Science1 decade agoWhy is president Bush seeking an "overseer" for the Iraq and Afghan wars? Why have three generals declined?
I read this today on Yahoo- one general (former Marine) said "They don't know where they're going in Iraq. Why go there to get an ulcer and then leave". The other two would not comment.
One of the roles would be to "issue commands" to the pentagon. That's what Rumsfeld was doing. Isn't that what Gates should be doing?
And what about Mr. Bush being the "decider" himself? Why is he taking his hand off the wheel now? Is he distancing himself or seeking help? Doesn't he have enough help?
