How to regularly divide a circle in equal parts around a square object.?
for the purpose of capturing a 3d image of an object, i need to take 20 pictures from equal distance around the object.
the object is a large statue (8m high) on a square foot.
how can i easily do the following:
1. determine an even circle with the statue in the middle
2. determine angles equal 18 degree intervals
3. determine angles at equal 36 degree intervals.
i thought about using a rope to draw a circle, but i have no centre to attach the rope to.
this is the object i intend to capture:

3 AnswersPsychology6 years agoMaths problem is driving my crazy?
im trying to devise a scoring mechanism for a trend analyses.
ive come up with the following.
there are 2 inputs
x = is the overal position.
for ease ive capped x between -2.5 and 2.5
y is the trend movement direction and size
i use the following formula to devise a rating between 0 and 100. based on x.
100-(50 + (-)50 - sin ( x * 2 / pi) * 50)
my problem is the 100- is optional. it should only be done if x and y are not both positive, or both negative.
cant get the damn thing right in excel. anyone have any ideas?

1 AnswerInvesting9 years agoWhat do you call a name to be used in daily life?
In holland we have names like this:
Johannes Petrus van Vliet. Johannes and Petrus are names given to the child at baptism. In daily life this person would be called Johan. In holland we call this a Roep naam (a calling name)
a nickname is similar, but can vary from person to person and is not used for official purposes. a first name can be any of the 3 first names, not necesarily the ones used in daily life. (or a shortend form there of) given names are even more oficial i think.
is there a similar thing in English? whats it called?

1 AnswerPsychology10 years agoIs it right that the accrued Interest is over the total coupon when calculating with Act/360?
when i do the calculation for act/360 over a full year (leap year) then the final sum will be 365/360 or 366/360. which is more than one. this results in an accrued interest higher than the total coupon of the bond. is this right?
1 AnswerInvesting10 years agoProblem with P/a(i,n)?
could anyone help me rewrite the following formula to i = ...
P = C / (1+i)^n + A * ((1+i)^n-1)/(1+i)^n
pretty pretty plz :D
1 AnswerMathematics10 years agoFinancial Maths Question about P/a(i,n)?
i know P/a(i,n) is used to calculate the present value of future money. i also know that the formula could be used to predict the price of a bond by the hand of the market interest rate.
that's done like so:
P = C / (1+i)^n + A * ((1+i)^n-1)/(1+i)^n
usually C, A i and n are given. what does the formula look like when A C P and n are given.
(rephrase it to i = ...)
1 AnswerMathematics10 years agoadvance windows settings for language (" on an a)?
i have my keyboard input language set to dutch (international) and set to an US international keyboard format (which is correct.)
however i would expect the " key to stick and be put on a vowel when followed by a vowel. e.g. press " + a for ä. that doesnt work anymore, now when i press the " key once it puts out two so i get "" instead. how do i fix this anoying thing?
p.s. when i switch the language bar to english it only gives one " but they wont be put on the vowels, as it should.

4 AnswersMovies10 years agoi dont get it could someone please explain: Energy from gravity...?
i have been reading up on relativity, and i read that gravity is not a force. we perceive it as a force because we relate all motion to gravity (newton) and gravity is merely a in spacetime.
an object moving in a straight line in spacetime would seem to rotate in space. this makes sense to me, an object caught in a gravity well of a planet would not require energy to change course, as it doesnt change course...
however then i read stuff like this on the wiki of europa:
"This hypothesis proposes that heat energy from tidal flexing causes the ocean to remain liquid and drives geological activity similar to plate tectonics."
if gravity has no energy by simulate the presence of a force how could a gravitational pull of jupiter heat an ocean? where does that energy come from?
could someone explain?
