4 AnswersMovies4 years agoWould people not have referred to what we now call the US Air Force as the Army Air Corp during WWII instead of the term " Air Force"?
Watched a movie where a British woman spoke to an American officer of the--what was THEN KNOWN as-- the Army Air Corp, but she used the term "Air Force." The Army Air Corp only became the "Air Force" in 1947, a separate branch from the Army, so did the writers of the movie not use an anachronism when she said "Air Force"? In the original military song, "Here we go into the wild blue yonder..." veterans (in another movie I saw) sang, "Nothing can stop the Army Air CORP".
5 AnswersOther - Television4 years agoThere is historical evidence for Jesus and Buddha--that they were actual people--is there ANY historical evidence of Kwan Yin existing?
I mean did she exist as an historical person, as an actual living human being or is she PURE legend? The female Buddha. Of course, even the legend of Robin Hood is supposed to be inspired by an actual person, a historical fact so could the legends of her be based on an actual woman? .
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality4 years agoWhen or if Prince Charles ever becomes king, what EXACTLY will Camilla Parker Bowles status be?
He is a divorcee but with Princess Diana gone his divorce no longer would be an issue but what about Camilla? She is a divorcee and wasn't the great impediment to King Edward marrying Wallis Simpson because she was a divorcee--twice over--and the reason he abdicated because he could not marry "the woman he loved."
14 AnswersRoyalty4 years agoSince they changed the format of this site I can no longer figure how to post something in a category. How do you do it?
I don't know where this question is going to end up anymore--in what category! They used to have a specific place that you checked for what category you wanted your question to be placed in but now--I can no longer find the spot. For all I know this question will go to the Dining Out category!
1 AnswerYahoo Answers4 years agoHow do you pronounce the girl's name Lida, Lee-da or Leye-da (like lion)?
I always thought it was pronounced with a long E sound and it was just another spelling for the name Leda but I recently heard a woman with that name pronounce it with the long I sound and I liked it better. Is it pronounced differently in England since you pronounce Sophia, Maria and Constantine with a long I sound while we usually pronounce these names with a long E sound?
4 AnswersBaby Names4 years agoIn the movie The Free World did Mo and Doris make love or just cuddle?
I think when she crawls into the closet with him they only just SLEEP together and cuddle but what about on the truck? That is the first they show them kissing and Mohammed doesn't seem to know where to put his hands. They are always shown fully clothed. What are we to believe? I would kind of like to believe they didn't go all the way but just held one another and got close that way
1 AnswerMovies4 years agoHistorically, Jefferson wanted to abolish slavery in the Declaration of Independence but was not approved, so why'd he keep his own slaves?
If he wanted to legally abolish slavery what would have happened to him and other slaveholders had slavery emancipation been established in the Declaration and then probably in the Constitution?

7 AnswersBooks & Authors4 years agoCan Queen Elizabeth II, (or any queen of the UK) give the title of prince to anyone or only her husband?
I just read that Prince Philip was given the title of Duke of Edinburgh by Queen Elizabeth's father King George VI-though he had been a prince but gave it up to become a British subject-- and then some years later the queen titled him Prince Philip. And Queen Margaret's husband was titled Earl so if Margaret had had a son and daughter what would their titles be? Would the girl be Princess and the boy Earl? I know Princess Anne's husband declined his title so their children-though children of a royal--are called Mr. or Miss (which seems unfair to me).
5 AnswersRoyalty4 years agoIf it is true that God does not give anyone "more than they can bear" than why do people commit suicide?
Never made sense to me because these people could obviously not handle what God has given them.
36 AnswersReligion & Spirituality4 years agoAny Christian sects, such as Amish, that won't write the name of God/Christ even if part of a given name like Christian spelled Xtian?
I know there are some Hassidic or Orthodox Jews who will not even write the word God, preferring the designation G-d because the name is so sacred and they will not casually write any name for God. Heard it is also the case with the Amish and maybe Mennonites or Hutterites. Is this true? There is an artist for ex., who predominantly paints the Amish and spells his name Christian like Xtian to use the X to replace the sacred name of Christ. Cannot find this tradition anywhere but my sister-in-law insisted it was true. I read in a bio that he used the X in his name only to be different and I don't even think he was actually Amish--just liked painting them.
