  • I see faces in just about anything!?

Example: My mom's shower curtain is a pattern of different flowers. Carnations, roses, mums. It's actually pretty hideous. But when I'm sitting on the ol thundermug, that's what I'm looking at. In just about every flower, I look, and suddenly a face appears. It could be a demon face, a child's face, the face of a sculpted statue, etc. I'm not freaked out by it, just kind of amused that my brain picks this stuff out. In the wood grains on the simulated paneling on the wall. In the stains on a garage floor. Anywhere, there will be a face when I look. I don't concentrate and stare for a long time to make it happen. I'm not some goofball neurotic asshat. I am in my late 40's and above average intelligence. Just wondered if this is some known phenomenon. Any help?

  • Right laptop recommendation?

My girlfriend needs a new one. She's still using an XP machine. So.....her 17 yr old son plays PlayStation 4 while connected to the network. Does this require a certain processor speed? He doesn't use the computer, but he plugs into the tower on their desktop system. Pretty much all she uses it for is Facebook, general online browsing, and streaming music. Maybe some Netflix.

  • Amylase enzymes vs malted grains?

I'll be using amylase enzymes for the fermentation process of converting starches to fermentable sugars, instead of malted grains, such as barley. My question is, how much should I add for a 5 gal mash?

  • Does it mean anything when a man places his leg between a woman's when they're dancing?

A friend asked me this the other day. I wasn't aware that it was supposed to have any "meaning". I thought it was just a style of dancing, or maybe just the way certain dances are danced. Like maybe some of the Latin or salsa genre.

    Thoughts?

  • In Bible times, did Jewish Laws require couples to obtain a marriage license?

My friend is divorcing, and says if she ever finds someone new, she'll just shack up. This goes against Christianity.

She says she doesn't need the government's blessing because our present government wants to get rid of God anyway, so why does she need get married? Can't God bless the marriage without the government's approval?

I reminded her that Jesus said we should obey the laws of man as long as they don't contradict the laws of God.....to "Render therefore unto Caesar the things that are Cesar's, and unto God the things that are God's" Matthew 22:21

But I'm wondering......did the people in those times actually have to obtain the government's endorsement, or blessing if you will, by getting a license to be married?

  • What's the rules for bringing liquid medicines on international flights?

My son is in the Navy and on a ship off the coast of Italy. He and his Italian fiance will be flying here to Texas in November. Her brother, who is 17, would like to come with them, but there is a problem. Her brother is a hemophiliac, and must have his medicine with him. She told me it was platelets. I don't know if that's right or not, or if it matters.

Is there and exception to the rule involving liquid medicines on the flight? There has got to be a way to do it somehow, otherwise there would be no diabetics flying.

I thought of shipping his medicine here ahead of him, but even that seems ridiculous.

So, I thought I'd start here. Is there a guideline that will allow him to bring his medicine on the flight with him?

    Thanks!

  • What's the deal with my weenie?

Question got your attention, right? While you're here, check this out: My mini dachshund absolutely HATES odd noises, from my 4 yr old son's toys to my acoustic guitar. He howls like a wolf with a splinter in his foot!

He has this little stuffed toy that makes the "squeaky" sound when you squeeze his belly.

When he plays with it, he gets it in his mouth, and just squeaks like crazy! He rolls over on his back and howls right along with it because of the noise it makes. But he doesn't stop.

What I'm wondering is, if he hates the noise so bad, why does he keep doing it? Does it hurt his ears? Does he feel like he's "rescuing" the animal in distress?

It's really cute to watch, but (1) is it normal behavior? (2)or is my dog retarded?

  • Is this over the top?

Last night I saw a commercial on TV for "Obama 100 day commemorative shoes"! I have never in my 39 years heard of any president having so much praise lavished on him by the media.

Is this over the top politically or is this just a bunch of commercialized leeches looking to make a buck off a historical event? And what about the dolts who actually buy this kind of crap? The shoes actually had Obama's likeness on the sole and the sides, with little Obama shoe laces. "Order now and you'll get this authentic Obama commemorative basketball free!"

I kid you not. That's what the ad said.

Please, without liberal or conservative bias, what's the deal? Am I crazy or what? Have we really gotten in such a condition that we would resort to something this tacky & materialistic?

Or am I just off base here?

  • During the Victorian Era, was it proper for women to laugh loudly?

I was told that it wasn't by a former teacher of mine. I'm profiling a dearly departed old friend who was a special member of our church. I was given most of the information by her daughter-in-law, and was told this as fact. I'm really curious about this. She always had a cute little barely audible giggle, and I am wondering if this is why.

  • Do I have to go through another fingerprint/background check?

I did it last year through IBT for insurance licensing. Now I am getting a truck driving job that requires Hazmat endorsement. Do I have to do it again, or will the state of Texas accept my background check from last year?
