two objects in orbit..please HELP!!!?
Two objects X and Y are observed traveling in space under the influence of the gravitational attraction of the Sun. The closest distance of X to the sun (perihelion) is measured to be r_X,P = 5·10^10m at which point it travels with a speed of v_X,P = 7·10^4 m/s, while for Y the closest distance to the sun is
r_Y,P = 8·10^10m traveling at v_Y,P = 6·10^4 m/s.
a.) Determine which object has a bound orbit around the sun and which one doesn't.
-What I did was get the Sun's escape velocity ( 3.8*10^11 m/s) and since it is more than the velocity of X & Y, I said that they are both bonded orbits, please correct me.
b.) For the object in a bound orbit:
Determine the eccentricity e of the bound orbit. This will require (i) the geometry of an
ellipse, (ii) conservation of angular momentum, and (iii) conservation of energy. Then also find the
lengths of the semi-major and the semi-minor axes, a and b .
c.) Determine its period in years.
d.) Determine the smallest speed of the object in the orbit.
Please explain the steps

3 AnswersPhysics9 years agoHelp!! Rolling Sphere up a ramp problem...?
Q1. You decide to roll a solid sphere up a ramp of height ℎ, and want it to have a speed at the top equal to V_T. The sphere rolls without slipping. The sphere has radius r, mass m. What linear speed V_B must you give it at the bottom of the ramp in terms of ℎ, V_T, r, m, and/or g?
Simplify your answer as much as possible. (Note: I_CM, sphere=(2/5)MR^2).
I think we should do conservation of energy...but help...
Please explain all the steps

2 AnswersPhysics9 years agoECE question...MATLAB...function that performs half-adder and full-adder?
Write a MATLAB function the performs the operation of a half-adder, call it half_add. The
function should have two inputs, a and b, and return two outputs, X and c. Then, write another
function, call it full_add, that invokes half_add to perform the operation of a full adder. The
function full_add should have three inputs, a, b and c_in, and return two outputs, s and c_out.
Finally, write a program that uses the function full_add to find and display s and c_out for each
possible combination of a, b, and c_in.
This is what I have so far for the half-adder:
clear all; clc
function [(X,c)] = half_add( (a,b) )
%function to perform the operation of a half-adder
% a and can be logical or numeric binary vectors
a = logical([0 0 1 1]); b = logical([0 1 0 1]); % assigning a and b
for k = 1:4
X(k) = xor(a,b)
c(k) = a(k) & b(k)
end
end
please explain me what to do after this...

1 AnswerMathematics9 years agosimple ECE problem with 2 equations.?
Given are the following two equations in two unknowns.
3 - 4z + 2β = 5z
-3β + 2 = -2β - 4z
Assign z to the element X(1) of the vector X and assign β to the element X(2). Find a
matrix H and a vector C , such that the given equations can be written as: HX C= . Do not
solve the equations.
I can solve for β and plug it into the other equation to get z, then get β, but Is that what the question is asking? please give details of what it should be.

Consider the circular motion r(t) = <3 cos(5t), 3 sin(5t)>. Find its ve-
locity and its acceleration. How do they compare with the position
function at any point in time (i.e. are they parallel, orthogonal or
some other type of special relative position)?
1 AnswerMathematics9 years agoCalc. 3 problem!!!?/?
Suppose that the acceleration is given by a(t) = <cos t; 2 sin t>, the
initial position is given by <1, 0> and the initial velocity by <0, 1>. Then
find the vector valued functions that give the position and the velocity.

2 AnswersRamadan1 decade agoDo we know and follow this hadith? And if not then Why? are we too pious to follow?
“Anas bin Malik (radi Allahu anhu) narrated that the Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) would breathe three times in the vessel and say: ‘It is more wholesome and thirst quenching.’” [The Chapter on Drinks: Jami At-Tirmidhi]
Breathing three times while drinking means that he would not gulp all the water down in one go but take breaks to breathe. These breaths would be released and drawn outside the glass. This style of drinking distinguishes man from animals as the Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) told us not to drink all at once like a camel.
“Breathe three times in the vessel” means that while drinking from the vessel he used to draw his mouth away from the vessel three times and breathe outside. There is a Sahih hadith that the Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) forbade breathing in the vessel. The reason being that, by doing so, the foul smell of the mouth penetrates into the water or else, more often than not, the saliva finds its way into the water, which even the drinker himself would detest. Breathing outside the glass or cup, on the contrary, is more satisfying, healthy and pleasant for the stomach.
2 AnswersRamadan1 decade agoWhat do you think about this hadiths?
The Sahabah asked the Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) about the buildings of Jannah and he replied: “Bricks of gold and silver. Its mortar is fragrant musk. Its pebbles are pearls and sapphires. Its soil is saffron. Whoever enters it will live in luxury and happiness and will never experience any hardship or misery; he will live forever and never die. Their clothes will never wear out and their youth will never fade.” [Ahmad, Tirmidhi]
Just try to imagine a home that belongs to you made of delicate bricks of gold and silver. Grey mortar doesn’t bind the bricks together but a perfume! The driveway leading to your house isn’t full of grey pebbles but lustrous pearls and and clear blue sapphires. Imagine walking on them as you lead your guests into your new home. They don’t tarnish, break, get dirty or messed up in the least with use! It looks like a brand new driveway forever. Imagine soil that is sweet smelling saffron… what kind of flowers would grow out of it…
