  • Isn't it the dumb borrowers fault?

Seriously, the cruddy state of our economy is said to stem from the mortgage industry. We agree on that. Now, I really really do not understand why only a few are blaming the borrowers who hoped to get more than they were equipped to handle.

Some couple buys an expensive home, out of their traditional 30-year reach. They expect that in 5 years when their payment goes up that they'll be making more money and things will be fine. Meanwhile, with all of that extra income, they purchasewd a new car and started a family. And then they act suprised and victimized about the loan they agreed to enter in to. Most of these instances are not of mentally impaired persons. They are professionals. So I just don't believe more than a few people were 'victimized' by the banks. Really, how hardx is it to understand that your payment will go up by a couple hundred dollars in 60 months?

Banks are here to make money. Banks are business. Period.

We owned a home until 18 months ago, and when we moved (business transfer) we were forced to rent in order to avoid the skyrocketing prices of homes. We could have done a silly loan that would have screwed us in the end. But we knew better... We have a very good credit score (719).

Now, WE have to bail out these stupid borrowers. That's sooo unfair. We had no part in the demise of this economy.

Anyone else agree with me that the issue takes fault with borrowers who default on their loans?

  • How to REALLY clean a glass top stove?

I'm not an idiot in general, but I've not had a glass top stove before and we're just not making friends... There's always rings from spills that I can't get off. We're renting and I'll have to have it looking spiffy this summer when we get to move out -- help me figure out what to do. Am I allowed to use an SOS pad? Will that scratch the surface? It's a newer unit, if that makes a difference. I've used a variety of cleaning solutions, including those specifically for glasstop cook surfaces. So, I'm wondering if my methods or tools are wrong. I need advise!

  • What do you people do to answer so many questions?

So I've been answering a bunch of questions this week -- with the writers strike, I'm running out of stuff to watch on tv. And I'm noticing other Y!A contributors... Holy Smokes!! There are people out here who have answered hundreds of questions in only a couple of months. Thousands in less than a year.

My question is this -- and I do not mean any disrespect -- do you have any life outside of Yahoo! Answers? Or are you just very disciplined and you go on very regularly and answer a handful every day?

*** PLEASE *** Only answer if you've got like 3000 answers or you've answered some other huge amount in a short time. I'm curious how people get these ginormous numbers. Thanks!

  • Do you look like your avatar?

How many of you REALY REALLY look like your avatar? From the head up it's a really good representation of me - almost exact hairstyle. I do have black hair with blue streaks. I wear those kind of glasses. Same shape of face, skin tone. But I'm not that thin... and not as tubby as the plus size avatars.

  • I'm not a perv... body hair on boys. Read on for all the details!?

Ok, on a whim I decided that "when you have pubic hair then you can swear" with my kids. That seemed fair enough -- I WAS mostly thinking of my girls, stuck with all that shaving, they ought to be able to have that ability to swear then. My oldest daughter is 10, but is a year ahead in school - so she's in with 11/12 year old boys. And the subject came up when a couple of her male friends were over and said a swear word. My boys are both little -- so I have no idea when boys start to grow pubic hair (btw -- my husband says he doesn't remember, so he's no help) and I'm going to need to have some judgement on when to let her friends get a pass or "mean mom talk" when they swear. I'm not "checking" and I know better than to actually trust what they say about the matter...

What's the average age that boys start to get pubic hair?

  • Windows Vista... How do I set Yahoo! as my default email program?

I can still get through the old Windows XP way (Conrol Panel, Internet Options, Programs Tab, then click Set Programs... ) but I get to a certain point --- after I hit SET PROGRAMS and it's new and different and I've tried a few different things... and I'm lost.

Help?? I'm not a total idiot, but after 2 months of having Vista this is the only thing I cannot figure out and it IS kinda making me feel like an idiot because I can't figure it out...

  • Name of clothing co. with mail order catalog - similar to LL Bean.?

I guess I threw mine away. It's just slipped my mind on who the heck it is and I wanted to order from them. It's a clothing company that had mostly childrens clothing, some adults clothing. From pajamas to shoes to outerwear. It was a company that was not obscure. I've just blanked (maybe I'll remember after posting this question...) I got the catalog about 3 weeks ago I guess. I know for sure I was going to order a baby knitted hat that was one that goes over the entire head and only had a hole for the face so their ears and chin stay warm (not available in bigger kids sizes)

Anyone know what I'm talking about??

    Thanks!!!!!

  • Is there such a thing as a LARGE PRINT TV guide??

No, TV Guide doesn't make one, but does anyone know of another company that makes one?

Seems it could be a big seller, but I'm having a tough time finding where to get something like it. My dad can't read the guides anymore, and his health is so deteriorated that all he CAN do is watch tv when he's not in therapy. But he doesn't know what's on.

HELP? Anyone else run across this search and can either (a) point me in the right direction or (b) save me the time and just tell me it's simply not available.

    Thank you...

  • Suggestions needed for my discriminating mormon neighbors?

Now, I KNOW that LDS people discriminate against non-mormons... maybe not consciously, but if you're not one of them... you don't get the time of day.

We moved into a mormon neighborhood (from out of state - didn't know what we'd gotten ourselves into until it was too late!) a month ago. Only one (1) neighbor has introduced themselves. My kids have given out our phone number, and nobody has called either of them even once. They've called several kids and strangely enough, nobody can ever play...

There's nothing that should set us apart from "them" other than religion. We live in their neighborhood and keep our home looking nice. We're the same color as they are. We're not noisy. Our children are well behaved and friendly. Our dogs are even good. I'm sure word got out that we weren't LDS.

Suggestions on how we can make good in this neighborhood? Hoping for suggestions from LDS people who know how to deal with some stuffy LDS snobs.

  • Is there some correlation between LDS and the color AQUAMARINE/TEAL?

Alright - this may sound so off the wall, but my husband just got transferred to Salt Lake City and we're looking for a new house. And I swear that more than 25% of the houses have AQUAMARINE or TEAL carpeting or wall paint. Our agent (who is not a Mormon) says it's not a Mormon thing -- but that way way too much aquamarine for one town.

What gives? Anyone know? We've lived in Chicago, Phoenix, Seattle, and Portland in the last decade and never seen anything like it.

  • Is it possible to expand a 4- port wireless router?

I have a 4 port wireless router that was handling 2 laptops and 2 Tivo's. And I just bought 3 new wireless devices. But - I am a TECHIE DUFUS and did not know that my router didn't hand out an infinite number of IP addresses... (go ahead and laugh) I am wondering if I can just add another router? If so, what are the steps? I stopped into Best Buy and they don't even sell anything bigger than 4 -- so what do people do? Appreciate the help - usually my husband figures this kind of stuff out but he's out of town for a month! Thanks.
