  • I need to ship old hunting rifles to a friend?

My question is, who can best do this? USPS would seem to me to be very resistant to shipping weapons, so would UPS or FedEx be better/worse. Any advice out there?

No ammo will be sent and I will freely disclose and declare the items.

  • Anyone know of a free or inexpensive Windows XP friendly DVD ripper/copier? Not for commercial DVDs?

I need to extract different chapters and create AVIs and also copy whole DVDs. These are not copy protected commercial DVDs but home made DVDs. I've tried (can't remember the name unfortunatly) a program that seems to place huge files in mystery places on my hard drive which really is not too cool. Is there a program that just creates an ISO image to burn?

I was wondering if anyone out there has had any good or bad experiences with trenchless plumbing repair. Costly? Worth it? Any thoughts please.

  • Free OCR software for Mac OS X?

Anyone ever heard of any free Optical Character Recognition for Mac OS X? OmniPage looks cool but I can't justify the price since it's only one project I need to do (personal typed letters from the 1970's). Last time I used OCR was in 1996 when a scanner I bought came with it - I'm guessing publishers want to discourage OCR to protect their printed material?

  • Who has had a virus on OSX?

Have you ever had a virus do damage to your Mac OS? If so, what was the name? And what did it do to your Mac? No Java or email bugs but real operating system breakdowns and system compromises please.

  • How do you recommend a friend on Facebook?

Is there a way (other than send a direct message) to recommend or introduce a friend to another friend in Facebook?

  • Volkswagen Beetle headlight ?

I don't own a VW Beetle but I've always wanted to know if the recent models (1998-2008) have always had tail light and headlight problems. It seems that 98% (not exaggerating!) of the VW Beetles I see driving around have at least one headlamp or tail light not working. Is this an issue where they are frequently going out? Or is it a feature of some sort?

  • External HD not spinning up - costly if possible to recover?

I have a Lacie 500GB external HD that won't spin up - it just tick-tick-ticks and never whirrs up to life. I can feel the platter freely spin when I rock it back and forth so I'm sure it's not seized. Anyone have experience with recovering data from such a situation and, above all, what kind of price would a disk recovery cost me?

  • AIM not working? IS AOL OK?

I have the iPhone app for AIM. It cannot connect and says "you need a network connection to access the AIM network" - Well I do have a network connection and it stills does not connect. ALSO my AOL mail does not connect either! Just a coincidence or is AOL having "issues"?

  • If Obama ask Hillary Clinton to run?

If Obama ask Hillary Clinton to be his running mate, would that have been a first time a directly (one of the last two that is) defeated candidate paired up with the chosen candidate? Has this ever happened in the past?
