  • Ideas for a birthday present for a new boyfriend?

My boyfriend's birthday is coming up, and we'll have been dating just over two months. He's turning 24 and is really into metal music (Iron Maiden, Opeth, Rush, etc), pawn shops/yard sales/flea markets, playing bass, and beer. I've looked into some concert tickets, but they're a little pricey given the seat locations, so I'm trying to come up with other ideas. Any suggestions?

  • How long should I wait before re-dyeing my hair?

I [home] dyed my hair almost exactly four weeks ago, and despite rinsing the color out early, the color turned out much darker than I expected -almost black (I was expecting a mid-dark brown). I've lived with it for a while now, and despite lightening considerably, I still don't really like it. I'm ready to change it.

So, two questions, hopefully to professional hair stylists: how long should I wait before dyeing it again, so there's minimal damage (and, if I have a big event in three and a half weeks, can I do it before then)? And how difficult will it be to go to a lighter shade than what I have now?

  • Should I ask him if he's still interested?

I met this guy through a friend about a year ago, but moved away shortly after, so we've been talking online since then. I saw him while he visited the area I moved to a few weeks ago, and we went out and had some fun. But I'm starting to get the feeling he's no longer interested in me - should I come right out and ask? I don't want it to seem like I'm making more out of our chatting than it is...I don't have a huge amount of experience in situations like this, so I'm not really sure what would be appropriate to just come out and say and/or ask.

  • Phish Food cocktail recipe?

If you're familiar with Ben and Jerry's Phish Food ice cream, you know it's chocolate ice cream with chunks of fudge and swirls of marshmallow and caramel. Personally, I don't think it can get much better.

Unless there's some alcohol involved. Anyone have a recipe for a cocktail using these ingredients/flavors?

  • Can you come up with a better name?

I am about to start writing a blog about blogs. I know it sounds boring but it won't be, I swear. Anyway, I've never been good with naming things, and I need a name for the blog. So far all I've come up with is "Blog of Blogs," which is so boring. Any ideas?

  • Can I uninstall these programs safely?

I am trying to clean up my computer and I'm not sure if I can uninstall some programs safely, without messing up anything on my computer:

    Windows Live Sign-In Assistant

    NetWaiting

    SmartSound Quicktracks Plugin

Also, I have two listings of each of the following in my program list - can I delete one of each, or do I need both?

    Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable

Move Networks Media Player for Internet Explorer

  • What's the best way to keep this recipe warm but moist?

I have a stove-top recipe for a golden chicken risotto that includes white wine, peanuts, chicken, onions, and yellow peppers in the risotto. I would like to make this for a dinner party but I'd like to make it ahead - is there anyway to make the recipe and keep it warm (ie in the oven) without drying the risotto out? Or is there a way to change the stove top method of cooking risotto to an oven method, without altering much of the recipe? Or, (last one, I promise), do you have a favorite oven recipe for risotto that includes chicken? None of the oven recipes I've found have any form of protein in them.

  • How are strings and cords sized?

Can anyone explain what the numbers mean for sizing strings and cords? For example, how big is a size 30 cord, in inches? Or, if I want to buy a 1/8", 1/16" or 1/32" cording, what number should I look for?

  • Why was my question removed?

I asked a question about my iTunes, which (I have checked) does not, as far as I can understand, violate the terms of use/community guidelines. Why was it removed, and is there any way to find out the "official" reason?

  • What should I do with these mushrooms?

I need to use these mushrooms I bought before they go bad, and my original plan was stuffing them but I discovered the cheese is moldy. So, aside from sauteing them, what can I make with them quickly and without too too many other ingredients?

  • How do I fix the music listings on my iPod?

I bought a new iPod a few months ago and uploaded all my songs. Now, I'm working on adjusting all the listings on iTunes on my computer so that all the songs are formatted the same way and all the artists and albums are correct. Will it change everything when I sync the iPod, or will it copy the songs a second time (which was the problem with my last iPod). Can I wipe my iPod clean of just songs (so I can download cleanly), or would that get rid of my games and other info, too?

  • How many days before a court date does a subpoena usually arrive?

I am in school in a different state than I live in. I planned to go home at a certain time after my finals ended this semester, but my car was hit and I may be subpoenaed to testify against the driver of the car that hit mine (mine was parked). However, the court date - whether I have to be there or not - is a week after I had planned to leave the state. I can't plan my new travel dates until after I find out whether I need to be in court or not. So, when can I expect to be subpoenaed - or know that I haven't been?
