How does an NCP season ticket work?
Does anyone know how season tickets work on an NCP car park where standard paying customers would normally take a ticket out of the machine on entrance and then submit it to validate when leaving the car park? I realise that it would probably be displayed on the dashboard if it were an open air car park, but this specific car park is a multi storey where you have to get a ticket up front before the barrier will open to let you in. Thanks in advance.
2 AnswersCommuting10 years agoAm I breaching covenants in having more than one dog?
For the past 13 years we have owned two dogs and have never experienced any problems at all. However, on looking at an old Conveyance of the property from when it was originally built in 1969, it states that the original developer will only permit one dog, one cat or caged birds on the property. There is plenty of space in the back garden and we always keep it clean and free of 'doggy smells' by hosing down the flagstones more or less each day. In addition, the dogs never really bark so fortunately, we have never received any complaints from the neighbours and we have all lived a hassle-free existence for years.
I am now worried after reading this deed that if someone else becomes aware of the covenant (I assume each house in our row will have the same covenants) whether anyone could insist that we get rid of one of the dogs (which would be heartbreaking for all the family!)
Basically, I am just curious as to how much standing such an old covenant would have over the situation that we have been living in for years. Can it become out of date after long use etc? I would also say that a couple of neighbours own more than one cat so I am not the only one 'breaching' the covenant.
6 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoIs it possible to search Facebook for members not there yet?
I know that heading doesn't really make sense, but I have been searching FB for a couple of school friends who don't seem to be members yet. Does anyone know if FB has a facility where you can lodge a search and, if that particular person joins FB in the future, the 'friend request' will automatically get through to them?
8 AnswersFacebook1 decade agoPigeon hijacking my bird table/feeder?
A few weeks ago, I put a bird table in my garden and have had a nice variety of small birds come to it each day including blue ****, robins and blackbirds. For the last week, a fairly large pigeon has decided to take up residence around the garden and as soon as I top up the food on the table, he comes along and sits on the table and takes the food I have left for the smaller birds. While he is around, the smaller birds are not coming onto the table. Is there any way I can discourage it from eating the seed, i.e. should I be buying a particular kind of food? At the moment, I am feeding regular wild bird seen and wild bird peanuts.
5 AnswersBirds1 decade agoMystery Shopping and Taxes?
I have just become a mystery shopper and understand that I have to register as self employed and pay my own taxes. I am happy to do this, but does anyone know why this doesn't apply to other ways of bringing in extra money? For example, I do online surveys, sell lots of stuff on e-bay (not an e-bay shop, just my son's outgrown clothes) and write online reviews for which I get paid in cash, yet I am not required to pay tax for these. What's the difference with mystery shopping?
1 AnswerUnited Kingdom1 decade agoCooking roast potatoes with roast dinner?
I have found some great recipes for roast potatoes, but I am not sure how to go about roasting them at the same time as cooking roast lamb. I usually slow cook lamb on 170 degress for 2 1/2 hours, but all the recipes for roast potatoes need to go on 220 degrees for approx. 45 mins which is obviously a lot hotter. I also use a self-basting roasting tin (which is basically a tin with a lid on where the juices from the meat drip down onto the joint).
Would I be able to cook the potatoes in this tin, maybe on a lower temperature, for a longer period of time? Any suggestions welcomed!
8 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoIs this normal for an oven?
Our integral fan oven died last night so we went out today to buy a replacement. My husband fitted it and followed instructions for leaving it on a high heat for 30 minutes before using it to cook in. After 10 minutes, it had reached temperature but the exterior of the oven door, and the panel above where the controls are, had got excessively hot. I would expect the door to get warm, but not so hot that you cannot even touch it with your hand. We are considering returning it to the shop tomorrow but not sure whether they will accept our reasons for return. Surely this is a safety aspect and not normal for a brand new oven? Does anyone know whether it would be considered normal for the OUTSIDE of the oven to get roasting hot? Thanks in advance.

1 AnswerCleaning & Laundry1 decade agoIs it right for the SAS to train these dogs?
I have just read on the news that the SAS are training German Shepherds to parachute out of aeroplanes to sniff out insurgents and ambushes. Apparently, they will have a camera strapped to them which will transmit images directly back to base. I can't help but believe that this is a cruel way to treat these dogs. Not only are they going to be scared out of their wits by being thrown out of a plane, albeit with a parachute, they are also quite likely to get killed once on the ground. The SAS's defence to this is to say that given the choice of sending a man in there and risk his life, it would be preferable to send in the dogs.
Why can't they use some of these young thugs who have got into trouble with knife crime, attacking old people etc., to check out these dangerous areas? It would save space in the prisons which are already overcrowded, and will also put them in the frightening situation just like their victims!
Anyone agree?
6 AnswersDogs1 decade agoThumbs down...?
Is it my imagination, or do some people YA give thumbs down just for the hell of it? In the past, I have answered questions on various subjects including property matters, which is what my job is, and have been given a thumbs down for information which I know is accurate. Does anyone else find this annoying?
20 AnswersYahoo Answers1 decade agoWill my 2 dogs be ok apart for a week?
Just hoping someone can help here. I have two black labs who are brothers and 10 years old. They are booked in at kennels as we are due to go away in a couple of weeks but one of the dogs is still under veterinary care after picking up a bad joint infection in his leg. He is on a 5 week course of antibiotics and needs to be given his dose regularly twice a day. Although the kennels are really good and will give any medication, I am worried that they will forget to give him one of the doses of antibiotics, so my husband has said he will stay at home for the week and keep the dogs with him. However, a good friend of ours, who is very experienced with dogs (she has 4 of her own) has since kindly offered to take care of the dog who is on medication. My concern is that if we take one dog to kennels and leave the other one with our friend, are the dogs likely to suffer at all thorugh separation? They have been brought up together and are never really apart. Thankyou!
11 AnswersDogs1 decade agoBook price of 1995 petrol Astra 1.4i?
The car has a high mileage of 125000 but bodywork is in top condition and so is the engine after having various brand new parts fitted over the last few years. Starts and runs without any problems. I now want to sell the car, but know that I won't get a great amount for it due to the age and mileage. Anyone know a rough estimate as to what I could sell at?
3 AnswersVauxhall Opel1 decade agoAutomatic Fish Feeders?
We are taking a week's holiday in three weeks and, although my parents usually call in to feed the fish, they are unable to this year. Therefore, please can anyone in the UK recommend a good quality automatic fish feeder? I have a 4' tropical tank with quite a varied combination of fish including a plec, corrys, tetras and angels, so I need something that will be able to drop in both flake and pellets. The only ones I seem to be able to find are the kind where you put all the food in together and, having never used one of these, I imagine it is impossible to determine how much of each food type can be dropped into the tank.
All suggestions (within reason!) much appreciated.
4 AnswersFish1 decade agoWhich martial art for 4 year old?
My son is going to be 4 at the end of the year and I am really interested in getting him enrolled in a junior martial arts class. I know there are lots of various classes out there for young kids to take up, but would be grateful if anyone could give me any tips on what form of martial arts class would be the best. I have heard of Tee Kwan Do, but am not really familiar with any of the others that are suitable for young children. Thanks in advance. (Serious answers only please)
21 AnswersMartial Arts1 decade agoHelp needed - my corydorus has just laid eggs!?
I have a pair of albino corydorus's and one has laid a load of eggs on the side of the tank and on the internal filter. Neither of the fish seem to be bothering with the egs though (I assumed they would have been a little protective over them) My main worry is that this is a 4' tank with other fish in, including 4 angels and a 10" pleco. None of the other fish seem to be interested in the eggs yet, but is there anything I should do?
This is the first time the fish have laid eggs so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
