Thumbs down...?

Yes I'm sure they do, I've seen genuine questions with genuine answers and they get td, and it is annoying, probably 13 year olds because Mummy grounded them, seriously they ain't worth bothering about, just concentrate on your thumbs up and best answers!! Worse than that are certain people who pull you up on your answers by your name, because they don't agree with you, now they are really annoying!!!! EDIT.. See!! the children are up already,lol!!!! EDIT... Carol, have a star!!! ive been giving all good answers thumbs up. lmao!!!!

Yes they do it just for the hell of it, or some other reason - they've all been covered in the answers I think. It's one of a number of problems with Yahoo answers which are mostly similar to problems the net has in general, but I suppose to get the advantages we'll always have to put up with things like this. Try not to lose faith in human nature too much!

As I answered in a similar question on Y!A Italy, according to me people give thumbs up and down for simpathy, and they don't read the answers. I always answer in a polite way and I get a lots of thumbs down!

I agree with k w. A thousand people have a thousand minds. Not everyone would back you up, especially when the question is concerned with humanity or moral issues, which is usually more controvertial , and doesn't have a standard answer. Yet if you answered some questions that did have standard answers, and you were pretty sure that the truth stood on your side, then those who gave you thumbs down were ignorant or self-righteous.

Yeah, there are certain trolls who go through and automatically give every answer a thumbs down. Talk about having no life. Since the thumbs don't mean anything I don't find it annoying.

It is unfortuniate and I suspect some is people playing and some is other posters wanting to get, "Best answer" Wow, they must have a lot of time and no life if they are doing that.

I asked about how to make pickeled eggs and some folks gave this nice young lady and 2 people gave her thumbs down. I gave her a thumbs up, and best answer.

Actually the Thumbs up and Thumbs down system is completely a fantasy...Even I get thumbs down for my good and really thoughtful answers...Its so annoying and irritating when we see thumbs down for worthy answers...

The one thing I say is if you don't agree with the answer then don't select it as the Best...Its as simple as that..But giving thumbs down really hurts the feeling of the answerer and makes him not to give good answers in future...

There are some people on here who give thumbs down on purpose and fun..So the Best thing is keep answering and never to bother about these foolish things!!

The thumbs down system should be there as it gives some opinion about the overall answer...But giving thumbs down for worthy answers should'nt be allowed.

There was a question yesterday 'how often do you shower?'

I answered 'Once in the morning and a bath at night, or I feel icky'. I got loads of thumbs down.

Why? Do folk on Yahoo Answers not like being clean?

It is not like I am wasting water, I share with my kids :)

I get them all the time and I could be the only one with thumbs down. It means there is a troll after me but I am doing nothing wrong here so I am not going to lie down.
