Delta Skymiles - points from credit card and two accounts for husband and wife?
My husband and I both have our own skymiles account with no credit card - we've just been earning miles from flying. However, we are going to apply for the credit card tonight and have some questions. First, say we get one account and have a card for each of us in that one account, do the reward points just go to the primary account holder? Can we each sign up for a separate card account to each get points to our respective skymiles accounts that already exist (and have some significant accumulation)?
The sign-up bonus miles are significant, and combined with our miles we've already earned could be pretty great, so we don't want to do this wrong. This will be our first credit card, so I'm very unsure about how these rewards programs work. What do most people do with these? Can we combine our separate skymiles accounts we already have? It seems very awkward to be earning a ton of points on one account, and just the slow accumulation from flying on the other.
Thanks!
4 AnswersCredit7 years agoNew Yamaha Upright Piano - Why does the middle pedal (practice pedal) not work?
I just purchased a new Yamaha M560 upright piano. I wasn't home when it was delivered, just my husband, so I wasn't able to check everything out. I started playing on it once I did get home and I've noticed the middle practice pedal doesn't work. It doesn't press down at all, like it's locked for shipping or something. Is there something that the delivery guys missed in setting it up? They said it came straight out of the factory box and when I opened the lid there were still tags in there and stuff, so I wouldn't be surprised if something was missed. The store isn't open till Monday and the store's tuner doesn't come for another month. Anything simple I can do? Or is there a special trick? I grew up using a Kawai, so maybe the mute pedal works differently?
Thanks for your help!
1 AnswerClassical8 years agoEmails from facebookmail.com spam, error, virus, or hack?
All day I've been getting emails from a facebookmail.com email address that say random facebook friends, mostly obscure ones, have updated their status and then says what my current status is.
Subject line is something like this:
" Joe has updated their status: " *quotes my exact status I have on facebook right now* " "
What is going on!? I dont even get email notifications, which is what made me curious in the first place, but then it quotes my own status back to me!
8 AnswersFacebook9 years agoTrying to remember a book I read: dystopian novel about people wearing masks?
I was reading the description for "Matched" and it really made me think of a book I read as a teenager (which makes me assume its a YA novel). What I can best remember about the plot is that this society requires everyone to wear masks their entire lives. I believe the color of the mask was important, class or age or something. Their mates were chosen for them and once matched, mates were the only ones to ever see each other mask-less.

2 AnswersBooks & Authors9 years agoNon-visible way to attach key rack to wall?
I recently made a key rack by attaching hooks to one of those cheap thin square mirrors from IKEA (http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/9007574... It looks awesome, but now I'm at a loss of how to attractively attach it to the wall while still being secure.
Since it's daily use is grabbing keys off the hooks, a wobbly picture frame hanging will likely cause it to crash to the floor. Especially since it's quite light on its own.
My first instinct was to just screw it into the the one vertical stud in the wall by two screws on the top and bottom, but that would have the screws be very visible in the design of this piece of wood.
Are there any secure, non-visible ways to attach this to the wall?
4 AnswersDecorating & Remodeling9 years agoSafe for healthy cat to eat l-lysine? Feeding strategy for multi-cat house, one with URI?
We adopted 2 cats from a rescue about a month ago and one has had the URI the entire time (extreme sneezing, watery eyes, and mucus, but still healthy behavior and eating), with the other showing no symptoms. We tried antibiotics from her to rule out bacterial infection with no improvement, and the vet is now thinking we are back to the pretty standard herpes or a mild calici. So we are going to start L-lysine to see if that helps, with the suggestion of being sprinkled on food.
My question though is how to handle feeding the two cats with only one needing the medicine.
We've been doing open feeding which works well for them and is what they are used to. However, is it OK for the healthy cat to eat the medicine too from sharing a bowl? Do I just double the dose to make sure the sick one is getting enough and then help the healthy one from just not showing symptoms himself? I would still be very concerned about dosage here though
The vet suggested we try switching to meals and feeding separately, but since they are not used to eating a lot in one sitting that might be really hard to switch. They would just nibble at it. They healthy one especially just nibbles, and since he came to us a little skinny I would worry about him not getting enough and being hungry through the day when we are gone. The sick one I'm actually concerned about gaining too much weight (she's chubby for her small frame of 10 months old), so I would be hesitant to give her her own special small meal and then let her still have open access all day.
Can I just forget the sprinkling altogether and give her the full dose in small water or a small tuna treat (give both tuna to keep them both happy, but only one with the lysine)?
13 AnswersCats9 years ago350 gb internet usage limit - will that be a problem?
I'm moving into a community that unfortunately is ruled by a despotic internet monopoly. They are charging way too much and I don't really have a choice about it since they are the only provider available. So my question doesn't even matter since I'll have to live with it either way.
However, I'm curious about something I've heard about there and whether this will be a problem: a few new neighbors warned me that this company will start to charge you crazy rates if you go over their usage limit. The company told me that limit was 350 gb per month. I have no frame of reference for how much usage is normal for internet users, so is that a reasonable limit?
When I asked the company the first person said that there was no way to hit that unless I was torrenting a lot and running netflix 24/7. But then the next person I talked to sounded hesitant about saying we wouldn't go over with our internet habits.
We do run netflix streaming a lot, my husband plays WoW and other internet games, and we are both heavy surfers. Most of this being after work in the evenings.
3 AnswersOther - Internet9 years agoTips on coordinating living room furniture with kitchen in a great room?
We are building our first house and I'm very new/not very talented at decorating and choosing furniture, so I would love some advice on what looks good in coordinating furniture.
Our kitchen, dining area and living room are all in one big great room, so I'm struggling to figure out how to have those areas look nice together without all being one big matchy-matchy area. What are the conventions in this type of area?
The only thing that will be there to work around already are the cabinets and counter-tops, I'm buying everything else new since we don't have anything else! haha. So is the idea to match any wood furniture with the wood of the cabinets or what? The cabinets are also a color I haven't seen in a lot of wood furniture, so it will be hard to match. And while I really love the cabinet color, I'm not sure I would like it much outside of the cabinets.
The cabinets look like this: http://www.forresidentialpros.com/company/10148718... (the pic of the autumn brown finish). Granite counters - kind of a "cookies and cream" look in brown towns. Light beige with dark brown pattern. No hardwood yet, but planning on putting in later ourselves (color advice on that too?).
How do I choose a dining table - I would prefer wood, so I don't know what to do there. However, if it's too difficult, there is a glass table I think would look nice.
Struggling the most with an entertainment center in the living room. I really like the Hemnes set from Ikea (http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/categories/serie... but I don't know which color to go with or if it would even look good. I prefer the dark set on its own, but I have no idea if that works.
My style: Preppy and clean, love blues, grays, and browns
2 AnswersDecorating & Remodeling10 years agoBest time to start having children, while minimizing career derailment?
So, I need some professional advice, and real world experience would be great.
I'm a married female, currently between my two years of a Masters in Public Administration. I've done internships, and had a real job between undergrad and graduate school, so I have a decent amount of work experience already for an entry level person.
I had originally planned to work for a few years after graduating and then start having kids, taking a few years off while they are young. My original thought process here was that I could used the placement and networking services easier as a student to find a good job, along with the momentum that comes from being a new-grad. Then with that job under my belt I could better find something when I went back into the work force.
However, I'm starting to re-think this, but it might be partially driven by my new-found baby urges ;)
I'm starting to think now that it might be a better idea to get pregnant and start that process during my last year of graduate school, taking those few years off right away after graduation. No strategic plan here career-wise, I just am wondering if working 2 or so years would really make a difference in my future career trajectory? Is waiting a few more years to get a small amount of experience work worth it when I feel like I am ready for kids now?
What do you think? My career is really important to me, so I want to time this the best way possible to reduce any damage taking a few years off might have. On the other hand, I don't want to wait if it won't make a difference. I also am not thrilled about perpetuating any biases in employment to not hire young women because "they just get pregnant and quit".
1 AnswerOther - Careers & Employment1 decade agoHow can I correlate nominal personality types with success in statistics programs?
I took statistics a few years ago, so I have a pretty good knowledge of the math and tools, I'm just rusty on usage and rules. I'm taking stats again and our team project has Myers-Briggs personality data for employees and we are supposed to gather data to see if there is a personality type that is more successful. We are getting Interval level data and survey results which work well in regression...but I'm a little lost on how to correlate it against our primary data set of nominal personality types.
My question is, without doing dummy variables for all 15 or so different types, is there any other way to do this analysis? Help!
1 AnswerMathematics1 decade agoWill my graphics be fixed by having the motherboard replaced?
I was having major power and startup issues with my HP laptop. Loonnng story short it was sent in for repairs under warranty and is on its way back now. They said they replaced the system board (motherboard, right?).
I had forgotten to tell them about other problems I was having though and I'm curious if those are going to be fixed as well just by having them replace the part. I think they might be fixed from my basic hardware knowledge, but here's what they were and tell me what you think:
1 USB port wasn't working
wonky graphics (colors would go weird while watching stuff and screen would flicker a lot)
I had forgotten to mention them because they were just minor annoyances and didn't really interfere with stuff, but since I had to send it in it would be nice to be fixed!
This are the specs for essentially the same computer, but bought almost a year ago:

4 AnswersTrivia1 decade agoHusband lying about Job Hunting, what should I do?
My husband has been job hunting for a few months and not having much luck. I try not to ask him to "report" at the end of the day and I know how hard it can be. I was in his same position a year ago. It is very important for us that he find something soon. He's normally very motivated and so I didn't doubt that he was putting in a good effort. Until he started telling me about some shows he'd watched and I couldn't figure out when he would be watching all of them... I was using his computer today and got curious and looked at his internet history. Turns out he's been on netflix and hulu all week and hasn't done anything job hunting related. However, he's been telling me all week about these companies he researched and sent resumes to.
I'm so furious at him that he isn't taking this seriously and trying his hardest and that he's been really lying to me. But I don't know how to talk to him about it because he'll be mad I didn't trust him. I know I shouldn't have been snoopy but now I can't stop thinking about it. He can tell I'm mad at him, but I just keep coming up with dumb reasons.
12 AnswersMarriage & Divorce1 decade agoJob re-posted after not getting it, what is the etiquette?
I applied for a receptionist position at a law firm several weeks ago and ended up getting an interview. I felt the interview went very well and I was well qualified for the job, but I ended up not getting the position. Today I found the same job posted again online (very similar anyway). I'm guessing the person they chose last round just didn't work out. What is the etiquette for applying to this job again, especially since they probably still remember me?
5 AnswersOther - Careers & Employment1 decade agowedding gift for soon-to-be husband?
I know this has been asked a million times here, but I still am at a loss of what to give him. We both are just graduating college and are very strapped for money, our parents are paying for nearly the entire wedding, so gifts like watches and such just don't sound like they will work. I would just say that we don't need gifts, and I'm sure he would agree normally, except that I accidentally found out that hes been building me a cedar chest with his dad for the last year for me. This is a really sentimental gift for me since its been a family tradition for generations for the women to get a cedar chest for keepsakes in their new families, but my carpenter grandpa who would normally make it recently passed away. He knew I would be sad to not be getting one, so he told my family that he would take care of it as my gift from him. So, I guess I'm struggling to find an equally sentimental, old fashioned and traditional, more effort than going to the store type gift that isn't going to cost me loads. Any ideas?
more info: I'm not really wanting to give him a gift based on hobbies either because I feel like I do that for birthdays and Christmas anyway. I guess I'm looking for something a bit more timeless than that.

My fiance told me he keeps having a fantasy with me wearing just some basic pink cotton underwear with purple hearts on it, or yellow ones with pink lace and polka dots. I've search all over and had no luck, do you know where either of these can be found?
4 AnswersFashion & Accessories1 decade agoLDS (Mormon) temple worthiness?
Please only respond if you are Mormon.
My boyfriend and I have committed some sexual sins for the last few months (but not gone all the way) and we decided we need to repent and take care of this. We are both meeting with our bishops this week. Neither of us are endowed. We love each other very much and are planning on getting married in the summer. My question is if we work really hard will we be worthy and ready to be married in the temple by then? Are there any sort of time-lines for things like this? (I'm thinking about the year thing between a baptism or civil marriage and temple marriage) This is my first experience going to the bishop for a sin and I'm really nervous...
10 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoShould she be my bridesmaid?
I have two college roommates who I am very close with, the three of us lived together for two years and were like sisters. When I met my fiance she was getting over a breakup and was very jealous of our growing relationship. His apartment was next door and he and his roommates became good friends with our apartment. Because of her jelousy and lonliness she treated me and my then boyfriend very poorly. She would talk bad about him all the time, act like my mother everytime I left to go hang out with him ("where are you going...when are you going to be back? when are you going to spend time with me? etc)It hurt me a lot. As a result, our friendship was very damaged and she and my boyfriend don't even talk now. we survived, though I know she still doesn't like him. Now that he and I are getting married it doesn't seem right to have her be a bridesmaid. However, I know she will be offended since we are still friends and our other roommate will be and it seems weird not to have both involve
