I am retired from the Southern Pacific Railroad as a locomotive engineer. There were no other female engineers at that time. I retired early to go to college and graduated as a Legal Assistant-Paralegal in 1992. My legal career consisted of administrative law only. I have two wonderful grown children. And 60 years in the school of hard knocks.

  • How would I go about reporting a HIPAA violation?

  • I have grounds to file a medical malpracitce law suit against a local doctor. Your answers are arrpeciated.?

Last January 2013 to went to a doctor for unwanted weight loss of about 10 pounds. She wrote out a prescription which I immediately took to my pharmacy. They explained this drug was now sold over the counter so I purchased it and began take it 3 times a day as instructed by the physician. This medicine caused severe stomach pain and vomiting when I ate and I continued to become even sicker. Within about four months I had lost 27 pounds and gone from a size 10 to size 0. My hair and eyelashes fell out in patches leaving bald spots and my fingernails and toenails were soft and wax-like.

I am retired and this is the first time I have ever been ill.

Please help me find a good lawyer to file a medical malpractice suit against this doctor. Thank you.

  • Please help me find a medical malpractice lawyer located between Brigham City and Salt Lake City, Utah?

A local doctor gave me a medication which caused me to become extremely ill and an unwanted 26 pound weight loss. I'm retired and uninsured but needed a good deal of medical attention so my expenses for the necessary examinations, lab work and other tests have been very expensive. One PA said if I didn't start gaining my weight back they would force me to be on a feeding tube. Please assist in locating a good attorney to file a law suit for medical malpractice against this physician. I'm afraid if I don't do something quickly another person may become as sick as I am from this doctor. Please Help! Thank you!

  • MEDICAID is NOT FREE! I was forced to take an early retirement. Medicaid cost was almost 50% of my net income!?

To the people that think Medicaid is free to the public or paid by the government... It is not! I was forced to take a disability retirement before I was 55 years old due to my health. I purchased Medicaid from the Department of Workforce Services because I had no medical insurance. My Medicaid premium was $976.00 per month. My monthly gross income is under $2,000.00 my net retirement is $1,700.00. This was the first time in my life I have ever asked or needed financial assistance from the government and the first time I have ever been sick. I live in the state of Utah and had to learn the hard way that unless you are pregnant or single with children you cannot get medical health coverage for less than 35% of you income. Additionally, we have only one hospital in my town that will accept patients who are self-pay or on Medicaid which is McKay-Dee Hospital and the doctors or their PAs treat people without a higher income or insurance in an entirely different manner than those with money.

  • Is this grounds for a medical malpractice law suit?

Last January I went to see a doctor regarding unwanted weight loss and flu like symptoms. She set me up for a CT scan of my abdomen and a colonoscopy and gave me a prescription. Her office called about a week later saying the doctor wanted to see me ASAP so I went right in. She told me I had a tumor on my bladder that was about an inch in diameter and to prepare my life for radiation and chemotherapy and see a urologist immediately which I did. Both tests were negative. I returned to the same doctor and told her the prescription she had given me caused severe diarrhea, stomach pain and more weight loss and I didn't want to use it any longer. She argued with me in the same manner a two year old child might argue with their parents and insisted I take the medication three times a day everyday. I later learned the prescription she had given me was a laxative that goes by the brand name of Miralax. By this time my normal weight of 120 pounds had dropped to 98 pounds, none of my clothes fit and I was wearing adult diapers 24/7. I'm a retired woman without insurance so all these medical expenses were mostly out of pocket and it became necessary for me to purchase Medicaid which cost 35% of my retirement income which literally broke me. I'm still having stomach aches and loosing weight but have no money left to pay further medical costs. I picked up a copy of my medical records to see what this ding-dong doc had to say and found she had authored my records to say she prescribed two does a day rather than two. I'd been fortunate enough to have never experienced being sick before meeting this doctor. I'm at a loss as what to do next. Your answers are greatly appreciated.

  • Who is the best attorney in my area SLC, UT to represent me in a HIPAA complaint?

I completed the HIPAA complaint form and attachments and mailed it all out about a week ago. Does anyone know how long it takes for them to investigate and enforce this illegal crime? How do I find a lawyer to represent me? And how much compensation should I expect from the hospital once the investigation is done and enforcement rules and regulations are met?

  • Can I sue a doctor for prescribing excess Miralax which caused horrible pain and bloating?

I visited with my doctor because I was concerned about a my unwanted, rapid weight loss, He prescribed 3 packets of Miralax daily. This caused extreme bloating, and horrid gas pain, necessity to wear diapers, a dependency on laxatives and an additional 17 pound weight loss. I obtained a copy of my medical records and found the doctor had lied in saying he told me to take 2 doses. Is this grounds to file a law suit against the physician or clinic? The symptoms have continued for months so I am miserable.

  • I saw a doctor because I was worried about my rapid weight loss. She told me to take Miralax 3 times a day.?

Following my doctors orders, I went to a pharmacy and asked for assistance finding Miralax as I had never heard of it before. After drinking the medication for a month I returned to the doctor explaining that was horrible on my system and that I now had to wear diapers because I had lost control of my bowels. She became sharp with me and insisted that it was an absolute MUST for me to drink this drug three times every day. She argued with me in the same manner that a two year old argues with a parent. My weight dropped from 119 pounds to 97 pounds in less than 3 months. Additionally, it was an extremely cold Utah winter so I felt freezing cold most all the time and now at mid June it still feels cold to me. I am retired and therefore on a fixed income so I could not afford to buy new clothes that fit. My pants literally fell off me just walking out to greet a neighbor. Does anyone know if this would be considered medical malpractice? Thank you for your honest answers.

  • How to file my own law suit against a hospital?

I was in a local hospital last Dec 2012. Someone disclosed a copy of my medical records to a person who had no right or my permission to receive these records. This person also shared my medical records with other people causing a great deal of stress and anxiety for me. I am currently in the process of filing a complaint for this matter to be investigated. What are the enforcement laws for this type of violation to my rights of privacy? Could I file my own law suit against the hospital?

  • How to contact get Gephart?

I went to Lowe's early in April to learn how to kill the weeds in my yard and gardens. The man I spoke with David, from the Lawn and Garden Department told me to use Roundup on everything and the grass would come back in a few weeks. it did NOT! When I returned to Lowes for additional help the same man said "Use a rotor tiller.". I explained I only had two hands and a shovel. He said "Oh well we have a dairy farm with big equipment that's why we use Roundup. You will need to replant your landscape or buy what you need here and our experts can assist you." He then sold me several bags of steer manure and Kentucky Blue Grass seed. In the beginning, I returned to the Lowe's here in Harrisville a number of time to purchase more landscape supplies however, I became so annoyed with the lack of service and knowledge of their employees I quit going to Lowe's and went to Walmart or Home Depot. This has been a horrible nightmare because my only income is RR disability, I have a mortgage payment and a large yard with a flower bed in the front and vegetable garden in back. I have spent more money than what I could afford for repairs to my landscape. Additionally, I am a 60 year old single female and I weigh 97 pounds. Will you please help me?

  • tumor in the bladder?

I have a tumor on or in my bladder. The doctor said it was about one inch in diameter & had been growing for quite some time. My primary physician called it "cancer" but the specialist has called it a "growth". What is the difference between a growth & cancer?
