I saw a doctor because I was worried about my rapid weight loss. She told me to take Miralax 3 times a day.?

Following my doctors orders, I went to a pharmacy and asked for assistance finding Miralax as I had never heard of it before. After drinking the medication for a month I returned to the doctor explaining that was horrible on my system and that I now had to wear diapers because I had lost control of my bowels. She became sharp with me and insisted that it was an absolute MUST for me to drink this drug three times every day. She argued with me in the same manner that a two year old argues with a parent. My weight dropped from 119 pounds to 97 pounds in less than 3 months. Additionally, it was an extremely cold Utah winter so I felt freezing cold most all the time and now at mid June it still feels cold to me. I am retired and therefore on a fixed income so I could not afford to buy new clothes that fit. My pants literally fell off me just walking out to greet a neighbor. Does anyone know if this would be considered medical malpractice? Thank you for your honest answers.

Not sure but I would definitely see another doctor. Try rewriting this question in the law section of yahoo answers and see if you get any better answers.

Did she run any tests? She should have. Ask friends to see if they can recommend a better doctor. I would also try doing research- maybe check WebMD.com for possibilities. Things like ice-cream and nuts can help with the weight loss, esp. if you've lost your appetite. I'd also try activia yogurt for a couple weeks and see if it helps at all.

Try yard sales for clothes. Sometimes you can find nice things for 50 cents or a dollar. You can almost get a whole new wardrobe for $10. Thrift stores can be cheap too, and you can try on the clothes in a lot of them. They also carry belts for a dollar or so.
