  • Am I wrong for not wanting advice?

I understand this is a kind of hypocritical question but its not one i could be positive on my own. I am 18, have a great job (one that's a great opportunity for a long time) I'm planning to take night college courses in addition to working full time. I missed a social outing for work because I didn't know that it was so soon after the work day to go because I live to far away to come home and get ready. I'll admit that I messed up a little, but my dad went off saying that I committed political suicide by missing it. I went on to say things like "I would rather live and learn than be told how to live". He said he wouldn't give me any more advice (I don't live with him). I want to lead my life without people telling me if I'm doing it wrong. I don't make stupid decisions, and believe I will be better off not blindly following my parents advice and looking up to inspirational people (not celebrities)

  • Auto insurance with no credit?

I'm planning out buying a new car but I can't seem to figure out how much insurance would be each month. I am 18, have a full time job (600+/week), no credit history, no tickets, never been pulled over. I want to buy a Toyota Tacoma and I'm willing to spend 13k if that matters. I've had my license 1 1/2 years. No criminal records either. I also live in mass. Any idea how much I would be paying? I don't know much about insurance

  • What should I do?!?

I have been suspecting him for stealing various things like my watch, phone charger, money from my wallet that I left in his car, and now, money from my house. He slept over last night and in the morning I was in the living room and heard him at the counter in the kitchen, I peaked over there and saw him taking quarters out of a jar. When I went over there they were already in his pocket, and he wanted to buy a tin of chewing tobacco. He said he had 3 dollars and he needs one more for it but he thinks he has quarters in his car. I suspected he would just use the ones in his pocket. That shows me that instead of asking me for a dollar that I would've gladly given him, he would steal it from me. He always has amazing excuses when asked about something he did wrong almost like he thought about it in advance. But this is the first time I have actually caught him. I haven't told him that I saw it yet but idk what to do. This makes me sure that he also stole those things listed above. WHAT SHOULD I DO? he is/was a great friend. I don't want to fight him (I could easily win). I want my stuff back. I don't want to lose this friendship but it looks like ill have to. he is also teaching my brother guitar which poses a problem.

  • Why is my car doing this?

I own a 2002 ford explorer xlt with 164k on it and when I drive on the highway for more than about 15 minutes it will not go past 3000 rpm and will not downshift. Also, when I try to go past 3k it will clunk and grind, even when off the highway on regular roads it will clunk (only after going on the highway). Oil is fine, can't access trans oil as it needs a special machine and has no dipstick. Any thoughts? Thanks!

  • Should marriage have legal bearing?

If Marriage is a part of religion, (if gays can't get married its because of the religion) and there is legal bearing on marriage and is legally binding, does that mean it infringes the separation between church and state? I just don't understand how it is accepted as legally binding to obey your religion.

  • Best hard toe boots?

I'm going to be working on a concrete floor woodworking so I will be on my feet all day. The shop is big and I will walk around a lot. I need something light, safety toe (steel or composite), high quality, and super comfortable. I don't have great knees so I think a small heel would be best. I don't know much about insoles so please inform me. I have redwings but they aren't safety toes. I'm fine with paying good money for good boots. My max is around $220. I don't like anything past 6". What would you guys recommend?

  • Best work boots?

I will be working in a woodworking shop (industrial) with concrete floors and they require steel toe or any reenforced toe. I have bad knees and I'm young which sucks. I blame it on wrestling. I need something that is comfortable through 11 hour days on my feet. I don't mind spending good money for good boots. I was thinking low heal because large ones are bad for the feet and knees. They need to be light too. I was looking at timberland pros but I'm originally a redwing guy PLEASE HELP

  • Patriot Act?

With the NSA metadata collection ruled illegal, will the Patriot Act also fall under scrutiny and not be renewed?

Is my teacher right? I'm in high school and average CPA, not honors. She said it was horrible. I apologize in advance, but please read!?

I got a D on this (extended photo). We all have big dreams growing up. Some of us wanted to be firefighters, some wanted to be doctors, some wanted to make a lot of money, and some, like my uncle, wanted to be a seagull. When asked what I wanted to be when I grew up, my 10 year old self would confidently give the answer “rich” almost as if I was certain that being rich was my destiny. I mean what 10 year old doesn’t want to be rich?

When you’re young, you don’t see the reality of fulfilling your dream. You don’t see all the effort that would be involved in chasing that dream. At ten years old, no one asked me how I was going to make my seemingly inevitable future of success come true. I couldn’t really comprehend that my dream probably wouldn’t come true and that I would have to work hard and move mountains for it. My dream was more of a wish that I expected would come true than it was something I wanted enough to put in the effort for.

Wasn’t long after the realization of how hard that dream would be to achieve that I forgot about it all together. After setting this dream aside, I started to live day to day with no ambitions to strive for other than to get a new dirtbike. This mentality lasted me well into high school and it still shows itself occasionally as a senior. After finally getting that dirt bike, I had a more prevalent desire, getting into a college. The new dream of getting into college came a little late as I messed up pretty bad in school the previous years.

  • 02 ford explorer won't accelerate past 3000 rpm?

As I was getting onto the highway, I tried accelerating to match the speed of the other cars and the explorer wouldn't go past 3000rpm or downshift. It was making an odd noise kind of like a grinding of gears maybe? The transmission slipped a couple times a few months ago but nothing since. Check engine light was already on for gas cap leak but double checked it and that was the only thing wrong. The engine went back to normal on my way home which is when I checked the engine light. I apologize for the long read but need to know what it is before it breaks completely. Btw it has 164k miles.
