Is there a way to get phone mailboxes without having to subscribe to a monthly service? Could an inexpensive portable phone system do that by itself? Thanks!

It will let me log in and see all existing emails. Won't let me do any activity though - receive emails, delete, move to folders. When I try to send an email, it says "problem, couldn't be sent" - This is an important account I need - any ideas??
