What is this film effect?
1 AnswerMovies7 years agoWhy do the masses LOVE average movies?
I'm not trying to sound condescending...
I was disillusioned this year having gone to see the much hyped Godzilla to be completely blown away by its average-ness. I tried once more with the X men movie the following week, same story, yet everyone seemed to loved this one. It wasn't ever about broken anticipations or disappointment, It was simply an average movie ( with its moments nonetheless).
I have vowed not to return to theaters until the release of Boyhood( sometime in September here) of when which I can be assured of fulfillment. I realize this seems to be an issue centered at major releases, but these are the films that are 'breaking'(3D/Inflation/China) box office records and leading discussion.
It's not that I hate (modern)cinema either. I find David Fincher a great reminder of someone refreshingly still working of their own and against the grain, someone whose use of digital capture is unparalleled.
4 AnswersMovies7 years agoHow should i make a film that will stay relevant for eternity?
I'm thinking about concepts regarding infinite possibilities of the future, how traditional science fiction falls short of realizing the future/ or over glamorizes elements. To convey how (technological) fantasy becomes reality. How could I portray the sense of constant evolution and sense of wonder in terms of recognizing present and future technological advancements and recognizing how we as people change with it; a self reflection of society where a lifetime could represent the rise and fall of an entire technological period.
Open to all (multiple)genres, though science fiction would be the preferred example.
Thanks. In hope of constructive feedback and ideas.

No just a few characters, but entire society.
1 AnswerMovies7 years agoIs this a good idea for short film?
A basic premise: 3 friends, longing for a break, leave their ordinary lives and escape to a desolate forest by a river and camp out. When they wake up the next morning, their possessions are gone and there is the imminent threat of wild fires.
Need honest, constructive criticism.
Thanks

Something you yourself would actually invest time in. Very limited budget.
1 AnswerMovies7 years agoDid you enjoy Gravity?
Seemingly the 'it' movie of the year. Just wondering what others thought of it and whether it is over hyped. I found it somewhere between beautiful and tedious.
3 AnswersMovies8 years agoMovie with people becoming detached and separated?
Emotionally and mentally rather than by an external force. Like between a mother and son for example, or a husband and wife.
1 AnswerMovies8 years agoSome good films or books that study subcultures?
Can be directly a documentary or doctorate type book or a drama/novel. To provide insight and workings of subcultures and not just focus on one particular subculture.
