When cooking, do you add wet to dry or dry to wet?

I have a recipe that says to mix 3/4 cup flour, 3/4 cup milk and 3 eggs. Which is the best order so it doesn't get all lumpy?

This was so interesting to me because there are people to believe that each side is right and the other is wrong. However, after reading them all, I'm going to go with the answer that reminded me of the way my own mother used to do it. I'd forgotten so thanks all for the help. And the popovers were yummy :)

Mix the wet (milk and eggs) and add the flour small portions at a time. Mix in each portion of flour well before adding more .

I would put the flour (sifted) into a bowl, warm the milk, add the eggs to the milk then add to the flour slowly. Never fails for me ;0)

Mix the eggs and milk together, then spoon in the flour, stirring as you go. Use a fork or a whisk.

In baking school they taught us that you should always add dry to wet.
Making a cake you put the liquid first and then add the package mix
