Chevrolet Tracker (2001) serious water leak!?

I have a 2001 Tracker with just over 100K miles on it. It has developed a serious water leak (fresh water, not coolant). It occurred suddenly. We had some fairly heavy rains the last few days and it is puddling water in the drivers foot well. After a rainy night there was nearly an inch of standing water. No other parts of the car's interior are getting wet. Careful inspection of the drivers door didn't show anything suspicious. The weather stripping is in tact with no indication of water past the stripping. The threshold is dry also. I think it is coming through the firewall but so far I haven't been able to isolate the source.

Has anyone experienced something like this?
Were you able to stop the leak?
If so, what did you do?
Is this a common Tracker problem?

in the area there is a grille remove wiper arm and then grille look in the the well area or the area where the wiper motor is located , look for any leaves from trees where you park. in that area there should be a drain somewhere ,if you cannot see anything try blowing area with compress air . i have seen same problem on 98 ME/BE also on a ford escort

there's a few tests you can do. But for the most part it sounds like the area where the wipers come into the body somewhere under the wiper grill is leaking into the body. what your going to have to do is take a hose to the vehicle windshield area while someone has a flashlight under the dash looking. most of the time rain water runs down between the outer and inner fender well. It might have a seal leak there.

another old trick we used to do years ago to make a car fairly air tight is light up a b*utt load of smoke bombs in a car and find the leaks.

get in the car and have one of your friends take the water hose and apply water on it slowly for about 3 or 5 min. take your flash light and look @ the door and under the dash , It sounds like fire wall but it might me the windshield make sure you soak it completely you should find your leak.
Now if you find it go to the parts shop and get some sealer and apply ,, good luck

Some cars have a drain hose that comes out the firewall and they do get plugged. Check the passenger side .

suggest debris inside wiper grill is flooding drain rail.
maybe could have cracked heater pipe
