Why are there no more tomatoes on the shelves?

Did someone throw them away? Couldn't they be cooked and saved?

Everyone is scared of the salmonella outbreaks. The cherry and grape tomatoes sold on the vine are still okay. No one place wants to be responsible for selling bad tomatoes. Someone might sue them for getting sick.

They threw them out to protect the customers.

Because of e. coli, I believe. They're no longer @ McDonald's nor WalMart.
