Numbing to Pierce my Septum? [DIY septum experiences please]?

Question

I've pierced everything on my body so far but as soon as I got the needle to the skin on my spetum i just couldn't do it. 
I'm being a big pansy and looking for good creams.
I heard LMX is the best so far.

Also. I have forceps and corks and whatnot but no receiver tube for the needle to go through.
Since i'm piercing it myself i can't exactly see up my nose, it's not like the other piercings i've done whre i can pretty much see everything i'm doing.

Can anyone tell me what they used on the other side to catch the needle?
So far the only thing that seems like it might work would be the cork, but even thats iffy.

Alright usually I tell DIYers to not do it and all the risks and crap. But you seem really adamant on doing this yourself, and at least you looked into proper tools. I too pierced my own septum with proper equipment. (Here comes the thumbs downs!) 

Insert the cork into the nostril where the needle with be exiting. Numbing cream isn't good for the septum piercing since its so important to pierce the sweet spot, you wont be able to feel it if its numb and you'll nick the cartilage. 

So look in the mirror and line everything up. Stick the cork in one nostril. Push the needle through quickly once you're lined up and press it into the cork. Keep the cork on the end of the needle and feed your jewelry through the hollow end of the needle. 

I've done other piercings on myself and I too was really hesistant on my septum because I thought I had to look in the mirror and that made it scary! If you pinch hard enough with the forceps it wont hurt, and if you get it right through the sweet spot so take your time lining it up.Good luck!
