Frank Thomas "The Big Hurt" Question.?
How many players in major league history have a higher career batting average, more home runs, higher OBP and a higher SLG than Frank Thomas. I can only think of two. Also, Thomas, certain HOFer?

Two -- Ruth and Foxx -- and Williams is tied with Thomas in home runs.
Which makes for a nice little peer group, and the other three are already in the Hall. We'll find out about Thomas in 2014, but the signs are favorable.
Two active players are in good position to meet up.
Ramirez lags in OBP by about seven points. That's a lot to make up, but it could happen.
Pujols -- well, it's just a matter of time.

I came up with Babe Ruth and Jimmy Foxx. Ted Williams was tied with Thomas in homer runs but was higher in all the other categories. I don't think Frank would be considered as good a hitter as any of those three legends, but it sure is exclusive company he's in..
Do I think he's a Hall of Famer? Yes but maybe not a first ballot one. His on the field numbers are unquestioned, but a lot of people had issues with him off the field and as a teammate.

they gave you the answers for your first question. as for the hall of fame, without a doubt in my mind he will be a first ballot hof'er. he is easily the greatest hitter the white sox have ever seen in 100+ years. his 500+ homers, .301 BA, incredible K/BB ratio, there is no way he misses it. some will go against him because he was a DH, but that came only late in his career when he was injuring himself by laying out to get ground balls. when he did play the field, he was nothing close to a gold glover, but he could play his position enough. no doubt. Hall of Fame.
