How can I get the middle piece off of my brand new shaker?

I just bought this 3 piece shaker from Kroger & the middle piece won't come off!

Should I go back 2 Kroger & get another style. Like this 1 or something?

Ahh as a bartender we encounter this ALL the time! Try tapping the larger, bottom, piece on a counter while trying to pull apart. If this doesn't work, try warm water at the joint while trying to pull apart.
