I can lead my pup to water, but I can't make her drink.?
I found a puppy on Thursday, abandoned by the side of the road. She's really little, maybe like 8 inches long. She can eat wet food just fine, and will try chomping on dry food until it hurts her teeth, but I can't get her to drink water. I've tried giving it to her through a bottle, but she would only take a couple sips. In a bowl, though, she'll only put her nose in it before walking away. How do I get her to drink?
First of all, the only other animal I have is a cockatiel, and she's never had to go to vet. We get her wings clipped and nails trimmed and everything at the little mom and pop shop where we got her 7 years ago. So I don't know any vets, especially ones open at 10:30 pm on a sunday.
She's acting normal, I guess. She's playing and going potty and all that. She'll drink a little bit, but then she'll start moving away from the bottle and pushing it out of her mouth.
She was *abandoned* in a *cardboard box* by the side of the *freeway*. I don't think her owners are looking for her.
And I know dogs require more care than birds, but I still don't know any.
