Why does my kitty try to bit and nip at my hand?

I have a nine month old male cat and many times when I go to pat him he will purr and then suddenly grab my arm and bite at my hand. He does not really bite down, but sort of hold on with his teeth. He wrapps both arms around my arm to hold on.

I know the cat likes me, he loves to sit on my lap and get petted, he follows me around the house and sits on my feet when I sit down. sometimes he will hide and then run out and pounce on my feet or try to grab my ankle and bite at that. Why does he do this? I don't want to do it but shoud I have him fixed?

He's just being playful usually when you separate any animal (but cats and dogs specifically) from there litter they play whenever they can don't worry if he's being rough and hurting/scratching you just stop he'll learn not to and eventually grow out of it oh and fixing does nothing just makes them groggy for a week then they start all over again or at least that's how it's been with my cat

The rubbing is a manner of heady scent marking. it is a manner of figuring out you as area of his kinfolk. do not enable kitty chew your nostril - I extremely have heard it is a manner that cats declare social dominance. on each and every occasion that has occurred to me, I extremely have held the cat in question via the scruff of its neck, and located my mouth over its nostril. you won't cherish to do this, so why not attempt scruffing the kitten, preserving it nevertheless for a minute or 2, then ignoring it for a mutually as so it feels the rigidity of social isolation. it isn't any doubt one in each and every of the strategies a momma cat might instruct her kittens what's suitable habit.

Most likely one of two reasons.

1) He wants to play
2) He is hungry

put food in his bowl, if that don't work get a toy for him and play with him

He's just trying to get you to take part in a bit of rough play!!! Play a bit rough with him, get him to chase your hand around... He won't hurt you on purpose, but you might get a scratch here and there. It's unintentional. Play is very improtant with kitties.

It could be that the kitten/cat is hungry. Or that he just wants to play with you. You could get him some toys to play with and play with him more?! Hope that helped a little!
