Say my friend invited me to a call of duty moder warefare 2 party. But i dont have modern warefare 2. Could i still join the party and play the game?

Of course. You only join a PARTY AND GAME when you accept an invite for a PARTY AND GAME. If you want to join only the party, go into your friends list, select the person who's party is open, and click 'Join Party"...
