What basis do politicians use to make decisions?

J Paul Guyer wrote a 20 page article on state and federal policy making. He said,"Do not waste time trying to influence public policy makers with logical arguments.".

(My comment) OK. So loose the cause and effect argument. Deep 6 the logic and good of mankind stuff.

He continued to say, "Instead, . . . facilitate ... re-election, re-appointment or election/appointment to a higher office."

This explains a lot to me. As much as I cringe when I write this. I think he is right.

What's your opinion?

Most politicians vote according to the wishes of their biggest campaign donors.

In Obama's case, you run as a moderate, then take a hard left turn once you're elected...giving the finger to the middle-of-the-road voters you lied to.
