The WWII "Battle of the Philippine Sea", or the "Marianas Turkey Shoot", was one of the most decisive and lopsided victories of the war in the Pacific Theatre. The sheer number of Japanese aircraft / trained pilots shot down during this battle effectively sealed Japan's fate, as they no longer had the time to manufacture replacement aircraft or train effective new pilots.
