What is a good hospitality gift to give?

I will be moving in with a friend shortly. I will be doing all of his cooking, cleaning, yard work, and anything he else tells me to do. What would be a good hospitality gift to give to him? He's a police officer in Florida, if that helps. I don't know if he has any hobbies. Since I'm moving there from Pennsylvania, I don't want to give him food or something that would perish or break along the way. I want to get him something really, really nice, but I've never had to buy a hospitality gift before. Please help me. All suggestions are appreciated.

I've never been there. It's kind of a confusing situation, but basically, I'll be his servant. He's giving me x amount of allowance per x amount of time. I just really appreciate the fact that he's offering this to me and I want to do something really nice, so I need a gift.

If you can't afford to pay him rent (which is why you're working it off), I'm not sure it's a good idea to buy an extravagant gift. Don't buy any decor for his home. I would buy him something neutral that you've noticed is missing- like a nice set of towels or knife set.

EDIT: You realize how bizarre and a little creepy this sounds, don't you? I have no issues with alternative adult lifestyles, as long as no one is harmed, but I don't think most people are going to understand your situation. At any rate, I hope it works out. You know him better than we, so you'd be the best source for what he would like.

You are doing a lot of work for him-- he's hiring you as an employee. So, you really don't have to get him anything.

However, since you asked, how about some type of travel mug or coffee mug? Then, get him some gift cards to local coffee shops or diners. He can have lunch or dinner while on duty.
