home for sale showing etiquette?

Are their general expectations? I live in Houston,TX and have a home for sale. I was very surprised to come home after a showing was completed-to find insulation on the ground in my hallway. They obviously went in the attic! In the attic? Really? Is that odd? I've never sold a home before but i was also surprised to see mild 'adjustments' to the facing of pillows and flowers. Seems strange to me...is this appropriate?

It's odd that pillows and flowers would be moved and that insulation was in your hallway. I think it's kind of rude to touch the pillows, furniture, etc. I've never sold a house either, but I've been shown homes before. I never touched anything (unless I had to open a door or something, I'd touch the doorknob). I don't think it's odd for them to look in the attic, but again, I'm not sure why there would be insulation in the hallway. It's not right to make that mess in someone's home...Maybe talk to your realtor who showed the home to see what went on.

Of course anyone shopping for a house is going to want to see the attic. You could have bats up there for all they know.

If you still live there, they shouldn't be making changes to your house until you have vacated it. If they didn't like something or wanted to add things, they should have discussed that with you.
