A few Skyrim questions?

1. Would it be a bad idea to bring Vilkas or Farkas as a follower during a Dark Brotherhood quest? I know they will leave if you kill an innocent person, but what about if you have a contract? And what about if you kill guards during Calcimos quest to translate a book and sneak into his house.( A thieves guild quest)

2. What side are the Companions on? Stormcloaks, imperials, or mixed?

1. If you do bring them, and kill a civilian, they'll be back at Jorvaskar, waiting for you. I'd bring them.
2. The are on "Whiterun's" side. If you ask Balgruuf, he'll explain.
