Religion is a more of a political organization that enforces dogma, strictures, tenets, rituals on its followers. It is more of a socio-political set up. It has nothing to do with god or spirituality. Religion keeps the mind boxed in - because followers are not allowed to question the religion, whereas philosophy and spirituality encourage people to question and find the truth for themselves. Religion remains stuck in time even as change, progress, evolution and growth is inevitable and desirable for humanity.
