7x (x+5) what is the answer?

Remember that whenever a term multiplies the content between two parentheses, it multiplies one term between the parentheses at a time. Picture the 7x as a hunter, and the x and the 5 as two little birds. The 7x can only shoot one bird at a time. 7x will go for the x, because he is the closest bird. 7x will shoot x, resulting in a multiplication between 7x and x [so, 7x * x = 7x^2]. Now, the 7x will shoot the 5 [so 7x * 5 = 35x]. You finish with 7x^2+35x. (The + comes from the + in x+5).

Hope this helped!

Anytime you multiply a term, 7x, with a group of terms, x + 5, you want to use the distributive property

To do this, you multiply 7x with the x and you get 7x^2
Then you keep the sign in the group, +
Then multiply 7x with the 5 to get 35x

So your answer will be (7x^2 + 35x)

7x(x + 5) = 7x^2 + 35x
