lip piercing starter jewelry?

I would like to be pierced with a 16g horseshoe or seamless ring ( as I am not a fan of studs I. Single or spider bit double lower piercing s ( amaware thats slang but most know the slang))

Does it always have to be long studs? I have to live with the piercing and want newelry I like ( have to have it in for 3 months)

Also what can be done to reduce damage outside of not getting one ( opinions on looks matter not, I have my reasons, and have a job that dont care....)

Most piercers do not consider seam(less) rings appropriate for a healing piercing. Even thought the high quality ones have a very tight seam/gap, it can still cause irritation or damage the healing tissues when it passes through the piercing.

Labrets are the preferred jewelry for a healing lip piercing. With any type of circular jewelry you'd need to have a larger diameter to accommodate for swelling. You wouldn't be able to be pierced with a snug fitting circular barbell ("horseshoe"). All of the extra exposed jewelry can lead to further irritation and swelling in some cases. Circular jewelry tends to move around more, which can drag dried crust through the piercing, leading to prolonged healing.

I would suggest having a consultation with your piercer. They may or may not feel comfortable starting you off with circular jewelry.

As far as damage goes, I'm assuming you're referring to tooth/gum damage? Simply put, wear properly fitted jewelry and go to a reputable piercer, who will place the piercing(s) properly. The jewelry can typically be downsized in a couple weeks, once all the swelling is gone. You do not, and often should not, leave the jewelry in for a full 3 months.
