Why do some people who are NOT in the upper socioeconomic ranks vote Republican anyway, when it does them no good?

Are they entertaining an unlikely hope that someday they WILL make a jump in wealth, and want the country set up for that case? !

Republicans sell themselves as the party of values. A lot of their poor voters are convinced that "values" issues such as abortion, prayer in school, etc are more important than, well, food.

Plus, even when they are voting against their own interests,, they still blame democrats. Look at that guy who is losing his eyesight because he hasn't taken care of his diabetes. He proudly was against Obamacare, but now that he needs it, he blames Obama because of how th law is structured. He should be blaming republicans for not allowing expansion in his state. Rationalization is a strong thing.

Because not all people lack the intelligence, ambition, and moral strength of the typical liberal. Economics is only one facet of their life's goals. And people all the time move up and down on the socio-economic ladder throughout theirs lives. You seem content to believe that is never possible. You hobble yourself and therefor will fulfill your own proficy

The citizens of Detroit have solidly voted Democrat for over 50 years...

It used be America's shining city. Its crown jewel.

Now, it is a filth ridden dump.

Would it do me any good to explain it to you? How can we vote for people that have DECLARED themselves to be our enemies? Republicans may not do anything for us, but we have to constantly worry about what Democrats will do TO us. What lesson will you be teaching us today? What immoral behavior will you demand that we embrace next? What will you take away from us next to hand to your pets? WHY DON'T YOU GET IT?
