Military Application for Housing/Pets?

I am an Active Military member with USMC. I am currently in MOS school, and scheduled to graduate on September 3rd, 2015. I am married (as of August 7th). I had a few questions that I need answered.

My PDS (permanent duty station) will be in Camp Lejeune, NC. CLB 6. I am trying to go ahead and send in paperwork for on base housing (which is really confusing). I've got a lot of it filled out. I also have a small dog (chihuahua/jack russel mix) that I'm wanting to bring up as well. We are waiting a 2/1 since it's just me and my husband. The wait is roughly 0-1 month for a 2/1 (this was updated on their website on August 11th, 2015.

My orders say no earlier than September 3, 2015 and no later than September 13,2015.

As soon as I graduate, I had planned on riding home with my mom (14 hour drive) to go ahead and go home to pack up both my husband and my belongs and then bringing up to my PDS to put in storage, until we are assigned a house/apartment on base.

My questions are:
1. If I rent a U-haul and bring our stuff up myself, would I get reimbursed the money it's going to cost me to bring it up? The U-haul along is roughly $380 and that isn't including gas or anything else.

2. Since there is a wait on an house/apartment, should my husband wait to come up? If he did come up when I reported in where would we be placed while we wait for a place to open?

3. I have to register my dog, is that registering her on Camp Lejeune base?

1. You will be reimbursed for mileage and weight. That is it. You need to go to a weight station and weight the truck empty, and then when it is all packed, weigh it again. You will need to keep the weight paperwork to turn in in order to be reimbursed. Lose the paperwork, and you get nothing.

2. If there is no housing available for you, you stay in a hotel while you wait. You can stay on the on-post hotel, or in a civilian one off post.

3. All pets must be taken to the post vet clinic to be registered. Registering includes making sure all shots are up to date. Many posts require all pets to be microchipped, so if your dog isn't already, they will do that. Housing will require a memorandum from the vet clinic stating that the animal is registered and meets all other requirements. You ALSO have to have the dog registered with the state.

If you want to do a PPM (personally procured move--formerly a DITY move), you need to get that cleared through your transportation office first.  Without the DD form 2278 showing that you have been approved and received HHG counselling, you won't get reimbursed a dime.  Also, you get paid off the weight you move and the distance; basically a percent of what it would cost the government to pay a moving company to move your stuff.  You don't get reimbursed for most of the costs; those are covered by what they are paying you.

1: ONLY if you get permission FIRST to do a DITY/PPM you get reimbursed for the weight of your HHG only.. it will NOT cover the cost of the Uhaul or any tow equipment. MALT is a set rate period( wanna say like 96 cents a mile but it has been a year since we PCSd so that number may have changed

Every time I read one of these posts it makes me glad I was a single Marine when I was in The Corps...good luck with all that as a Jr. enlisted Marine.
