In Islam, isn't it technically Shirk to believe in Angels?

salaam 3alaykum, my shaykh gave a lecture on shirk a couple weeks back. Shirk is defined as associated other beings with Allah but why are angels not shirk when they are immortal and have powers beyond humans like Allah? They're not as strong as Allah but they are lesser beings and my Shaykh said that believing even in lesser gods counts as shirk. Should I stop believing in angels?

"They're not as strong as Allah"

Then that are NOT Allah, and there is no shirk.
