  • How do I deal with my coworker?

I started a new job about 6 months ago. My boss is also new and started at the same time I did and I have one other coworker who has been with the company for many years. Initially things started off great with my coworker, they were friendly and helpful. I mostly shadowed this person for a whole month which involved attending meetings. I would just listen in. One month into my role something changed, without any communication, they stopped inviting me to meetings. We also had a backlog, which initially I was told we would both work on but it just ended up being me. I was okay with that because I looked at it as training. Then they asked me to help out another team with their backlog and train someone from another team, which I also did.

I noticed that my own training had halted a bit and so I brought that up and we set up some training sessions. During training, my coworker would QA my work but I noticed they were making changes to it and the quality of my work was actually going down instead of up. I wasn't sure if it was intentional. I confronted them about it and we aligned on a few things but following that I was told that only one of us should be in each meeting and since I am new, it was always her attending these meetings and telling me what work needed to be done. Lately, it has started to feel like I work for my coworker, they are delegating work to me, constantly criticizing everything I do and basically told me that I should run everything by them before doing it.

  • How do I deal with coworkers that dislike me? ?

I’m a 21 year old and I am a part time server. My manger loves me because I’m a hard worker and I always bring in the most sales. We just have one dishwasher (he’s in his 40s) at the moment and he works whenever I work. We used to be so close. We would talk and joke with each other. Well this 17 year old girl started working, they started to get closer. They would go in breaks together, leave together and she would work whenever he worked. I don’t really like her because she’s just gross. She opens up her legs whenever she gets the chance to and as someone who was raised right, I was raised not to associate myself with someone like her. She doesn’t like me either so one day, the dishwasher just stopped talking to me. He told someone that I was rude and that I love starting drama. He yelled at me twice in the past 24 hour. Last night, I was bussing the tea pitchers and there was no room in the bin, so I tried to squeezed it into the bin and some tea spilled. He FREAKED out and yelled at me. This morning, a new dishwasher came in and i asked the chef if he’s the new dishwasher. I guess the old dishwasher heard me saying “dishwasher” and thought I was talking about him. He freaked out again and yelled at me saying “WHY ARE YOU ALWAYS STARTING ****? IM GOING TO SHOW YOU A LESSON TODAY. IM TIRED OF PLAYING CHILDISH GAMES WIT CHU”. I am really starting to get tired of this and almost uncomfortable. He’s a felon and I heard him talking about how he’s not afraid to beat me up.

  • Is being a hotel cook stressful? ?

I was doing job research and I was wondering whether being a cook (with no prior experience) is difficult? Do they experience a lot of stress? I want to know what I’m getting myself into before I consider applying there.

  • How to unload a serving tray?

Fairly new waiter here. I’m pretty good at walking with the tray, but I have trouble unloading it. How do I place three drinks? In a pyramid? Then how do I unload the pyramid without losing balance? What about 5 drinks? 6? I’m pretty strong so I can carry it with no issue, so that’s not the problem.

  • Can you get a cook job at a diner without knowing how to cook?

The listing says "willing to train" but I literally don't know how to fry an egg! Will they be patient and teach me the basics, or do they mean train for more complicated dishes?

  • Can I get fired for having anemia?

I work at starbucks and started about 8 months ago. Lately I’ve been getting praised for my hard work by my peers and manager. I had a terrible training experience so I was the slowest person on the team till 2 months ago when I started upping my game. Today, however, I had work at 11:45 and in the middle of my shift I had a bit of a dizzy spell due to my anemia. My anemia isn’t too extreme as it comes and goes and hasn’t been too overwhelming. When I got my dizzy spell, my shift helped me sit down and my manager gave me food. She told me it’s ok and they’re here to help and that I should disclose my health problems next time but it’s ok that I didn’t. She also texted me about 2 hrs ago to check how I was feeling. Is it possible to get fired for smth like this

  • What kind of attitude is this called?

My dad was very rude to the waiter by saying things like the beef should be sizzling, do you understand? He did this after he told the waiter to reiterate the order. He also embarrassed the whole family by getting the family to leave the restaurant after the waiter couldn’t complete one order.

He’s also forcing this attitude in me.

  • Am I in the wrong?

I’m a barista at starbucks, and I started 7 months ago but I transferred to a new starbucks not too long. My old manager is a bit different than my new manager. In the beginning of last month, I requested Tuesdays and Thursdays off started feb 16 due to school, but she still scheduled me on the 18th when she approved my request. I emailed my manager letting her know, and she sounded annoyed and said that she told me to never text her or email her about these matters and to call the store or talk to her in person. I only did so because I don’t know her schedule. Last time I emailed her was about giving me more hours, which I admit I should’ve talked to her in person, but this was just to correct a mistake since I didn’t want to let her know too late. My old manager didn’t have a problem with emails or texts, This manager has been known to be inefficient, which is what my coworkers have told me. She tricks ppl into coming in when they don’t have to, and she discriminated my friend for her adhd and fired her for not being fast enough when she has only worked for less than 3 weeks.

  • I want a simple life working in fast food but I'm afraid of people making fun of me. What should I do?

I really don't want to work in the 9-5 office world and I really just want a job with minimal responsibility. A big paycheck isn't necessarily something I am looking for, just something that offers a good work/life balance.

Does anyone have experience working fast food? I was labeled as being a "Big achiever" in high school so I'm actually afraid of running into people I used to know and having them laugh at me, I know it's dumb.

I've suffered from and am recovering from a severe mental breakdown so I know what kind of work I can and can't handle anymore physically and mentally. However, now my paranoia is having people I used to know harass me and make fun of me at work.

Has this happened to you before? If so, how often does it happen?
