Why are we here in YA Religion and Spirituality?
If we were content with our faith/science and happy to have others be content with their model, why would we be arguing on the internet? Are we trying to convert the unconvertable or be conviced of the unexplainable?
We all have to eat, clean and work away from our screens; what keeps you coming back?
Claypidgion: I am glad you feel exhorted but I would not come to the internet to find truth.

I feel like someone has to represent a pagan/neo-pagan/wiccan voice, since we're so left out of the ususal discourse. There are a lot of weird myths about witchcraft on yahoo answers that I try to answer, I like to think I'm educating people about something they may know nothing about. Some people are looking for a path, and I would like them to know that Neo-paganism is real and open to them, even if they don't choose it.
Also, I feel really good about where I am spiritually, so I like to take advantage of that and pass a little on to others.
I also, on occasion, like to play poke the fundie. I know it's kinda rude, but damn, there are some crazy people here, and sometimes it is fun to antagonize them and sit back and laugh.

Well after we've done away with the cliches "everybody has to be somewhere" and "wherever you go, there you are," I have to admit that I'm just regurgitating the same ideas that I've had for a few years now in the hopes that the next time the idea goes out, somebody else might find it marginally more insightful than I do anymore. Really, there are some people who read the bible (or the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy) repeatedly in the hopes of catching something new the next time through. Hanging out here is in the same basket, only more interactive because the authors tend to still be alive, albeit more terse.

I AM content, but if you never hear any ideas aside from your own, how can you grow as a person? And sometimes, there are some things which I've never considered. Not to mention, even what you would call a "very religious" person does not have all of the answers. And sometimes, when others are unsure, I have an answer that may help them--not to convert them, but to give them something to consider.
Though to be fair, a generous amount of preaching does take place here. You'll always have that, when you bring together people who have strong beliefs.

To exhort other believers, and to be exhorted, and maybe even convincing just one more person to take a closer look at the truth.

Sometimes, I have the answer...or at least I've heard it before ... sometimes, I need to look up the answer again to help me "Exercise" my religion... in short I don't wanna be fat spiritually, and this is a great place to exercise my spirituality.
Sometimes, I need another perspective...although when I get this, I usually do try to get an authoritative responce later from the church...
Lastly, we all have this "God Shaped Hole" and I'm still trying to figure out the geometrical shape of this "God Shaped hole" and asking and answering helps me define this for myself.
Lift and one, lift and two, lift and three...hee-hee.

I am a religious studies major, so I am always interested in all things religious. I like to offer my perspective and see other peoples' perspectives to see what kinds of things others are thinking about with regard to religion.

I like to see what's spinning out there... I suppose it's curiosity for me. I can't imagine really being able to change someone's mind into thinking the same way I do, although I love it when I do discover someone like-minded.
