I know the movie Eight Below is based on a 1957 Japanese dog sled team, but what exactly happened?
Why were the dogs abandoned? How many were there? How long were they there for (6 months?)? How many survived? How did they survive? Why weren't they rescued sooner?
Just to be clear, I did see the movie. When a movie is "based on" actual events, it doesn't mean it's completely factual. Eight Below portrayed: an American team (it was actually a Japanese team), that it occured in 1993 (when it really happened in 1957), and that 6 out of 8 dogs survived (when there were more dogs but only 2 survived).
