My child wants to whistle. She's 5. How do I teach her?
I know how to whistle myself but without the fingers, just plain whistle. Still, I can't figure out how to teach her.
TIA

Give her a straw, have her pretend like she is drinking through it. Tell her to hold her tongue and lips like that while you pull the straw out. Then, tell her to blow softly, like she was trying to blow bubbles with her straw. Don't feel bad, I don't get the finger version either.

I remember my parents trying to teach me and I'd try to copy, without any results. It took an older family friend to teach me. I guess it just took someone else explaining it in terms I could replicate. Ask your friends and family to explain it to her and see what "clicks" for her.

Just let her watch you for a while and then try it together, I don't know what else to say. I am sure that with practice and a little bit of patience, you'll be fine :)
