How long can you leave beef out before it goes bad?

I cooked some pasta with ground beef last night, threw it in the tupperware, got sidetracked, and noticed this morning that it was still on the counter. I assume its bad, but hate to waste the good stuff I made last night! Plus my manly stomach can handle anything.

Will I get deftly ill off the food? Anyone know?

    well the tupperware technically sealed it inside without much oxygen coming in to cause rotting. However, the meat was at room temperature or whatever there at your place.

    I wouldn't serve it to others. Eat it and see. Worse case, you miss a day of work because of diahrea and take some pepto and spend the day on the couch watching cable or playing Xbox.

    Beef, left at room temperature, can become unfit for human consumption in only a couple of hours. Will it kill ya if you go ahead and eat it? Maybe not. More likely, it'd give you one heck of a tummyache - but the risk of worse illness is definitely pretty high. What would you rather do with your money, buy fresh beef or pay a mortician?

    Don't ever think your "manly stomach" can handle anything. There are several well-known food-borne illnesses that can kill the strongest man - or woman! And food that is that "bad" is not always obvious either by how it looks or how it smells!

    I suppose the real question is - "Are you feeling lucky, tough guy?"

    I don't know as it was sealed. How does it smell and look? If it seems dodgy, I definitely would throw it out.

    Beef isn't as problematic as chicken or pork. You might want to have a close look at it and see whether you're prepared to take the risk. Food poisoning isn't pleasant though.

    Usually, you know just by looking at it. As long as it's red, there's no problem. When it's gray, then it's bad. I've eaten meat that had small gray spots (3 days old) and I'm still here to tell about it.

    I'd say three to four days. A week might be pushing it, but if you don't ever get sick, maybe your doing something right. When you cook turkey for Thanksgiving, it is usually kept for sandwiches for about 4 days. Hope this helps!

    There's always that danger of bacterial infections like e.coli and all, but really it should be fine, esp since it was sealed. My family leaves leftovers out all the time and eat it the next day and it's fine. If it's bad you'll know it by the rotten smell, and if you see maggots crawling. ;)

    generally if your beef is already turning brown you've left it out too long. Unthawed meat should remain pink until cooked, otherwise its become warm enough to start growing germs and to begin rotting.

    Yeah throw it out, ever had food poisoning? I have and its not fun or pretty! Most likely it wouldnt hurt you once its been cooked and stays at room temp its not "bad" but its not good either...I actually just ate some spaghetti that was left covered up on my stove...but it stays cold in my house..so yeah throw it out...

    If you want to, make sure you heat it up to over 160 degrees F. This will kill all the bacteria, but I don't know how well the food will taste. If it were me, I would throw it away.
