Do you feel like drivers over the age of 65 should have to take another driving test?
I feel like it would be a good idea to have them take a test every 2-3 years after 65 also.
I feel like the older you get the slower your reaction time is.

I think if they get stopped by the police for a violation, they should be required to take a test. Otherwise, no.
65 is not that old for someone to have to take a mandatory test. 80 would be a better age for that.

Why because they drive slow?.... Would you like to take a driving test every 2 or 3 years when you turn 65? I feel if they don't get in any accidents and they pass the vision test they should be good to go.

I'm going to agree with cyanne2ak, which in essence is agreeing with you as well.
My first--and only car accident--was because an older man (who was 68) failed to see my car stopped at the red light and he hit the back end of my car going 55mph 150yds forward. Thank GOD there wasn't anything coming or else it would have been much worse than it was.
Not only that, but my grandparents shouldn't be driving. My grandfather, alright. My grandmother's though? The one I've driven with recently breaks right at the stop sign, etc. Scares me silly. The other grandmother, she's just losing it. They're both over 80 and anyone over 80 should just not drive. (Alright, unless they have taken the written and driving test again, and if they've passed according to a doctor.)

Age is relative-Are people still working at 65? I am in the medical field and we have some great nurses and doctors over 65- I think they should raise the driving age- We see tons more teens in the ER for DWI and DUI and serious car accidents than people over 65-

Mrs. Ford, I am 65 years old. My eyesight is still 20-20 and I pilot my own aircraft, a large twin-engined Cessna. My reflexes are not as sharp as when I flew USAF fighters, but I'd be willing to bet I can drive at least as well as some of these young kids.

i would prefer to drive behind an elderly person going forty miles per hour.. than a car full of teens with cell..phones.., loud music, putting on make up.. necking and driving at the same time, drinking, drugging, sitting and way below the steering wheel.as the speedometer reaches 90. no offense.. but i think all drivers should refresh their driving techniques every few years.

Not only do I agree with that, but I think they should see a STATE APPOINTED physician for a physical examination. My grandmother could probably pass a driver's test, but does NOT have good enough reactions to be driving.... A physician could tell that easily, but the actual driver's exam can not.

I think that is a good age to start requiring a driving test every couple of years...

Not all of them but I do believe that all the young teens that have gone through drivers ed. and somehow got a drivers license should be tested every 6 mos. and have their driving record reviewed.
Source(s): I`m a 66 yr old driver with one accident and one speeding ticket on my record and I started driving when I was thirteen.
