How do you clean the interior of the litter box?

I use a clumping cat litter and sift it every couple of days. But there is so much ick in it, I want to scrub it out. I've tried water and different cleaners, but they all seem to make a slimy mess. Any suggestions?

After dumping the litter, scrape off the excess litter gunk with the litter scoop into the garbage. We live in a condo, so using a hose isn't an option. Spray "Simple Green" spray cleaner inside the litter box, let it set for a few minutes, then wipe out with paper towels until dry. Cover the entire litter box with 2 large extra strenth Glad bags with the ties. After you put in the litter bags, shake some litter deodorizer inside the bottom of the litter box. When you change the litter box, just pull off both bags holding the litter & close the ties & throw in garbage. This seems to keep the litter boxes cleaner longer.

I take mine outside and hose it out. Then I use white vinegar and scrub it with a brush. Afterward, I rinse it out and I'm done. Vinegar is a great odor eliminator. No slimy mess either.

I used the sifter thing too when I first got my kitty. But it was too much hassle with the clumping litter that I bought a scoop and got rid of the sifter. I just couldn't get the sifter clean enough for me. (all those tiny holes in it) Now I just use one litter box and scoop everyday. Much easier than messing with that sifter thing.

Dump it out completely. Take a scrubing brush and a hose (if you can use a hose) and hose it out. If you do not have access to a hose then you may have to do it in your sink like washing dishes. You really do not need to use any cleaner products besides something to eliminate smell.

best thing to do is empty it first, take it outside fill it with water and let it sit for a couple of hours if possible. guranteed it will wash off with a hose then you can use a little watered down bleach and brush, rise, let dry and you are ready to fill with fresh litter.
